Senate Democrats are steering hundreds of millions of dollars in federal spending to states represented by eight of their most vulnerable lawmakers.

The aid, in the form of community development block grants, airport facility grants, water project funding and other types of federal assistance, is aimed at helping the political fortunes of vulnerable senators seeking reelection this year.

PATRICK G. RYAN
Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-Md.)

For example, the Senate version of the Housing and Urban Development funding bill sets aside $31.1 million in grants for Georgia, Iowa, Louisiana, Minnesota, Montana, New Jersey and South Dakota. The biggest winner is Missouri, represented by freshman Sen. Jean Carnahan (D), which could benefit from $7.7 million in grants.

All eight states are represented by vulnerable Democrats.

Tax $$$ wasted so the `RATS can remain in power. Then they'll whine about the tax cut!!

It's all about electing the right kind of people, no matter what party. That's why I always research a candidate before I vote.

However, ya have to hope that whomever you elect doesn't fall prey to the system and end up like the rest in a short time. Then it's a pain getting them out once they turn.

Makes you wonder how many "good" candidates have been kept out of office by these 20 and 30 year career politicians.

Term limits would help immensely. Although CFR would make it easier for incumbents to stay in, THAT has to go.

We shouldn't NEED to keep it in mind.

The RNC, and other conservative groups should be HAMMERRING IT HOME EVRY DAY UNTIL THE ELECTION!!!

I guess the idea is to get all the pork one can get for the party in power then deny the pork for the party out of power.

I say, go for it Democrats, that will teach the Republicans a lesson or two.

I agree that the RNC should be shouting this from the roof tops, BUT they are not and probably won't. Someone here mentioned earlier that the `RATS are not playing by GW's game plan of making peace with the 'enemy', maybe we should take a play from the `RAT playbook and start fight back before those SOB's control everything.

I wish it would happen, but I seriously doubt it.

Matt, do you have ANYTHING remotely constructive to say?

The Democrats have been the party in power in Congress for over 40 years. Now please tell me who needs to teach whom a lesson about pork?

And please dont think that I am saying the Repubs do not engage in pork barrell projects, they do, just not on a scale even remotely comparable to the Dems.

If you are uncertain about this go to www.cagw.com (http://www.cagw.com) Their stats might change your mind.
