/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/serious3.gif Lately, my EZ Armor firewall has alerted me several times of a program that is trying to run, called "msCMT Srvc.exe". Does anyone know what this is? I'm afraid it might be some kind of virus. If so, how do I get rid of it?

Whatever it is, it doesn't show up on search engines.
Suggestions: open the file search window (usually the Windows logo plus the 'F' key) and do a search for srvc.exe. In that window click on Advanced options and checkmark all the boxes. Then run the search.
When the file is located, check its location under "In folder". The folder name might help identify it. If it doesn't, use Windows Explorer to open the folder (assuming its not one of the standard Windows folders with nine zillion files) and see if there are any text files that might provide a clue.
Also right-click the file, select Properties, and see if there is any useful info in there.

I run Windows 98se...can't find that one anywhere on my box.
i think its a WinNT thing, saw a few references to that for that kind of system.
Unsure yet, not much to dig for or find yet.

Have you searched the hard drive for that file? The location might tell you something of it's origin. You might also try searching the registry since it appears to be masking as a service.
