By DICK PETTYS, Associated Press Writer

How does the Associated Press know this when the results are not in?

Fox just made the announcement as well. images/icons/frown.gif

While I think that's sad, I think the silver lining is that Linder votes the same and isn't the target Barr was. Liberal celebrating will be hard to bare, but it sure wasn't a democrat who beat him.

Fox made a prediction.

There aren't enough votes left in the remaining precincts for Barr to win. Well, Linder's a good man. But, Barr's the best friend the 2nd Amendment had in Washington.

Barr's career isn't over. GW will appoint him to something.

Don't forget that Fox and the AP are members of VNS, the same group of rocket scientists that called Florida for Gore in 2000. Its their numbers that they make their predictions from.

That's true. And, Barr may have a bunch of absentee votes yet counted. Still, it looks bad.

You are right John Linder is a Country Club High Society Politician, not a scrapper like Bob Barr. But he is now my congressman
and I will try and support him.

Here's an interesting commentary on the Barr/Linder race:

quote:
Let’s talk about Bob Barr and Charleton Heston. Heston is supporting Bob Barr. That’s fine. But Heston read a script for a radio advertisement that leaves much to be desired when it comes to telling the whole truth.

The Heston radio ad says that the Congressional redistricting in Georgia resulted in a contest between two good men, John Linder and Bob Barr. Sorry. This just isn’t true. It wasn’t the Democrats who decided that Bob Barr and John Linder would run against each other in this primary … it was Bob Barr. The decision was his, and his alone.

Now, let me explain.

The redistricting created a new 7th District and a new 11th District. Let’s look at the numbers for the new 7th District first.

34% -- The percentage of the population in the new 7th District that is currently represented by John Linder.

17% -- The percentage of the population in the new 7th District that is currently represented by Bob Barr.

Now ... the numbers for the new 11th District:

70% -- The percentage of the population in the new 11th District that is currently represented by Bob Barr.

00% -- The percentage of the population in the new 11th District that is currently represented by John Linder.

OK --- the redistricting is done, and you can see what the numbers show. Once this redistricting was finalized Bob Barr was living in the new 11th District. Understand this, folks. It’s important. Bob Barr was living in a new congressional district – and was currently representing 70% of the people in that district!

What about Linder? He was NOT living in the new 7th District. The Democrats had drawn the lines to put John Linder’s home in Cynthia McKinney’s district. Clearly, if John Linder wanted to continue to serve in the Congress – he had to call Bekins. He did. He moved into the new 7th – a district where he already represented 34% of the people.

Did Bob Barr have to move? What do you think? He was already living in the new 11th District – and he was already representing 70% of the people there!

So --- just what does Bob Barr decide? He runs out and rents a U-Haul! Can you believe it? For some reason known but to Barr he decides to move OUT of the new district where 70% of the population is already represented by him – and move INTO the 7th District where only 17% of the people are currently represented by him! He decides he’s going to run against Linder!

So --- bottom line time. The ONLY reason these “two good men,” as Charleton Heston describes them, are running against each other in this primary is because that is exactly the way Bob Barr wanted it. The situation was created by Barr, not by the Democrats. He left a district where his constituents were in a strong majority, to move into a district where his current constituents were in a strong minority – to run against a fellow Republican! What’s worse --- he left the new 11th

District in the hands of one of two liberal Democrats, Roger Kahn or Buddy Darden!

Are you catching on my friends! For some reason that I just can’t understand, Bob Barr decided that his goal this election year would be to turn over the new 11th District to the Democrats by moving away to campaign against a fellow Republican.

Odd..

Does anyone know why Barr did this?

SunnyBrook, that's bogus. With 89% votes counted in the "new" 11th district, 36,822 voted in the Democrat Primary, while only 28,615 voted in the Republican Primary. Does the sound like 70% supported Bob Barr? The "new" 11th was set up by taking all the Democrats out of Barr's old district and adding more Democrats to it. His old district had three or four counties in it, this monster they call the 11th looks like a spider in search of democratic voters.

I can't let LittleJohn get away with that last comment. Linder is a good man. He represented me well when I lived in Doraville, a "working class" area in NE Atlanta. To call him a "country club high society politician" just proves your "dolt-hood".
LJ,
Didn't your momma ever tell you "If'n you don't have anything nice to say...." Obviously, not.
