View Full Version : Any New Viruses out???
The reason why I'm asking is I'm starting to get another spate of viruses in my emailbox, I just deleted one earlier yesterday and now 4 this morning.
Is there some sort of new virus/trojan/whatever out there hitting?
Cuz whatever it is its hitting me via spam.
I dump it without ever looking at it.
made 4 viruses in my email in the span of one day.
very odd.
lemme know you geeks out there kay?

Only four? Hell, I got three yesterday in one message download. NAV dutifully detected and announced them, which usually happens while I'm doing something that needs my full attention.
There are new ones, or alterations of existing ones, almost every day. I'm being hammered with Netsky variants.
FYI, this is from last June. Imagine how much worse it is now.

Junk e-mailers are spreading viruses that let them send spam anonymously through home computers, according to an e-mail security firm.
The company, MessageLabs, operates servers that block spam and viruses for its clients. Its analysis of data shows that mass distributions of junk e-mail are increasingly coming from the Internet addresses of computers that have in the past sent out viruses as e-mail attachments.
"There is a high correlation," said Matt Sergeant, senior antispam technologist for the New York-based company. "About 30,000 machines have both open-proxy software and are responsible for sending viruses."

LOL! Sorry Rink, but I was on vacation, so the usual announcements weren't here.
Okies, well i thought somethin new was afoot, since I was getting an unusual number of virus attachements in my mail which I promptly slew without looking at em.

Go here (http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/defs.added.html) for the daily listing of new or renamed viruses added by Symantec.
