THE French government today approved a bill to outlaw homophobia, drawn up in the wake of a vicious attack on a gay man who was badly burned earlier this year.

The bill, which will go before parliament next month, will make "incitement to discrimination, hatred or violence against a person on the basis of gender or sexual orientation" punishable by a year in prison and a 45,000 euro ($54,000) fine.

First of all "discrimination & hatred" are such vague terms. I hope the actuall bill is more specific on what qualifies as discrimination & hatred. As for the violence against someone based on sexual orientation why bother with the emphasis on sexual orientation? I guess if someone is clubed or beaten for non sexual orientation reasons the punishment should be different. Whatever.

Hmmm... I think that when WWIII breaks out in EU between the muslims and the EUpeons, that we should just set up a little arms dealership in the Azores and sell them all of the weaponry they want (payment in gold bullion only, please). Provide both sides with all the intel our satellites can gather (for a small fee of course, and please, no euros). If we played our cards right we could have the distinct pleasure of providing the very weapon that killed the last EUpeon or the last EUpeon muslim. Then, when it's all over and their country is non-existent, go home and tell 'em "You made the mess, you clean it up" (unless they have more gold, [in advance, please] then we might be pursuaded to push around some piles of rubble).

Check with the People's Republik of Kanada on that. Its law already allows prosecution for preaching biblical passages against faggotry. The time is coming when it will hit the Canuck courts.
