/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon115.gif <font color="blue">This isn't aimed at anybody in particular, but lately, I've had to fix a few links that people left. Please observe the different ways of making links:
1. http://www.freecell.com/f/c/view_scores.html?;TopStreaks,8x4,0,100,0
2. GO HERE. (http://www.freecell.com/f/c/view_scores.html?;TopStreaks,8x4,0,100,0)
3. http://freeconservatives.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon115.gif (http://www.freecell.com/f/c/view_scores.html?;TopStreaks,8x4,0,100,0)</a> <~~~~ Click the smiley.
/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon115.gif To observe how these were done, click "QUOTE" at the top of this post, then look at the text window to see the different codes that were used.
/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon115.gif The first method seems easiëst, but if the link is lengthy, it stretches the width of the web page, & forces the rest of us to use the slide bar at the bottom in order to read it. The second is a lot more concise. I've noticed that some people actually combine the first & second methods, typing in the URL twice (or maybe they use copy & paste). The third method requires html codes; notice that the image is made with an URL, not the instant graemlin code.</font>

SURE THIS POST IS NOT AIMED AT ME....LOL THAT'S OK I DID SCREW UP AND COULD HAVE CAUSE HARM TO THE BOARD....BUT JUST THE SAME http://freeconservatives.com/smilies/bart-moon.gif.
I DO HAVE ONE VALID QUESTION, WERE CAN I PRACTICE MAKING UP POSTS AND USING THE UBB CODE WITHOUT MESSING UP THE THREADS? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon127.gif
I DID READ THE "RULES" TOO, LOCATED ON THE UPPER BAR OF ALL PAGES, BUT THE RULES ARE REALLY THE "BOARD POLICY", I JUST THOUGHT I WOULD SAY THAT FOR THE OTHER PEOPLE LIKE ME WHO ARE NEWBIES TO THIS FORUM.
ONE MORE QUESTION I DID NOT FIGURE OUT HOW TO READ A PERSONAL MESSAGE YOUR SENT ME/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon127.gif
.....I WAS NOT BEING RUDE OR AN IDIOT, I REALLY AM IGNORANT TO THIS SITE AND HOW THINGS WORK.
ONE LAST THOUGHT, I AM NOT AS DUMB AS I SOUND.

It's not aimed at you believe me. We have many members that needed the help.
You bring up a good point, we don't have a test area for novices. I'll set one up, thanks for the tip.

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/serious3.gif <font color="blue">Actually, I PMed somebody else this morning about the same thing, then decided it would be better to just show this to everyone, so I don't have to keep PMing everybody. And there have been several others over the past couple of months. So, don't get your panties in a wad. This is not about you. And we're not mad at anybody, but the moderators shouldn't have to correct these things over & again. So, I just thought it would be easiër to educate everyone.</font>

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/serious3.gif <font color="blue">UC & Crack's Joint used to have those. I think Crack's Joint still does. But, then, they didn't have a way for members to preview their posts. If people preview before they post, shouldn't that be enough to test their skills?</font>

Not really. Some may want to play with color, size, marquee etc and may not include it in their post at that time.

They can do that in Members Lounge, don'tcha reckon? Post something, modify it, practice, etc; and when they're finished, deleting the whole thing.

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon115.gif <font color="blue">Actually, anybody can compose a post, preview it, then simply not continue the process of posting it.
/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon115.gif As for making a post, then deleting it, I don't think that's possible. You can delete the text of a post, but a message will remain that you deleted it. Even moderators can't delete posts, only the texts of posts. Members may not delete threads, even ones they've started. Only administrators & moderators can delete threads.</font>

Look on the Main Index for the Area 51 Test Forum.

Thanks, I will post something really interesting, stupid, goofy and insane and all messed up in that forum as soon as I find it, while I learn the UBB code.
BTW is cussing allowed in the place, I really do enjoy cussing.

Don't ask me I do not know the capabilities the program used to keep this place up and running and what it can do, that’s why I asked if there was a test area, a place were you can post stupid posts without messing with the treads.
It also gives a person a chance to think about the way they may want to use the place in a more effective way to grab the attention of the reader and make them a more effective posters.

right here (http://freeconservatives.com/ubbthreads/postlist.php/Cat/0/Board/test)
I did a quick search for a hack that parses long urls, but found nothing. The coding isn't that challenging so it's surprising that UBB hasn't already addressed the problem.
The coding goes something like this:
http://conservababes.com/pics/parseurlcode.gif
The result of a very long url would be similar to this:
http://conservababes.com/pics/longurl.gif
Where the code allows 35 characters in the url and then parses out extraneous characters, then picks up the last 15 characters.
The actual url had it been left alone, would have stretched out the page to double in size.
