Safe Haven Bill (http://www.metrowestdailynews.com/localRegional/view.bg?articleid=72182)

I received this in an email I frequently get from Adoption Magazine. I have mixed feelings about it.

I can understand your trepidation, Beowulf. After reading the piece, I have mixed feelings too. No one wants to see a child die, but we don't want to encourage the abandonment of children either. Also, as a fellow adoptee, the "not having medical information" part bothers me quite a bit.

It's a mixed bag, I guess. It seems though, if one were to try to err on the side of the 'best case scenerio,' a living child is preferable to a dead one, and at least the child will have a chance at a normal life if adopted out. I think they need to be REAL careful how it's worded.

Pretty much my thoughts. The thing that bothers me is teens having kids and just dumping them off. I just have this thought that it would only make teenage irresponsibility more common and OK to them.

But at least, as you said, children will have a fair chance at life.
