CATO RULES
Sen. Robert Byrd has been waging a week-long war on the floor of the Senate to block the one that President Bush wants to wage in Iraq. On Thursday Byrd could be seen waving about a palm-sized version of the U.S. Constitution in booklet form, which has been published and distributed around the world by the Cato Institute.
"When we pointed out that the think tank that published it was libertarian, he didn't want to bring it on the floor," says a Democratic staffer on the Appropriations Committee, which Byrd chairs. "But it was the only copy we could find in the office."
And where did they find it? "We took it from a Republican staffer's desk," says the Democrat.

Too bad that's not the only example of them -stealing the Constitution- from us.
BTW: I've got my CATO copy. It's got the DOI in it too. ISBN 1-882577-98-1 @ $1.00 each, a useful donation to a worthwhile libertarian cause. They make great gifts.

Byrd regularly uses the Constitution as toilet paper and he waves it around as if he really gives a damn about it.
"But it was the only copy we could find in the office."<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">ROTFLMAO!!! What a surprise...

I wonder if these are the same people who wrote this?
Byrd should be proud of it now shouldn't he?

Too bad he will never apply this part of the Constitution:
"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited to it by the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." U.S. Constitution Amendment X<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">In other words, if a government power is not spelled out in the Constitution, then the Constitution (Amend. X) prohibits the Federal Government from arrogating the power to itself.
(Of course, Congress has ignored this with impunity for nearly 100 years.)

I find it amazing that a former KKK kleagle can rant and rave with a "borrowed" copy of the constitution and nobody calls him on it. Jeez, if a 'pub senator did something as asinine as that, the media would be eating him/her alive.
No, on second thought, I'm not amazed at all...just disgusted. graemlins/icon130.gif
First off, i think all of you know more about the Constitution than Senator Byrd. The only Congressmen that we probably don't know more about the Constitution is Rep. Ron Paul of Texas. He can probably quote it.
Anyway, congrats to ThomasMore! He is the first Conservative I've heard of to ever refer to the U.S. Constitution, especially the Tenth Amendment. Has the Republican party forgotten about it?
