NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Connecticut's deputy House majority leader was killed early Friday in a car crash.
State Rep. John S. Martinez, a Democrat, lost control of his car on wet pavement and was hit broadside by a trailer truck, police said.
...
Martinez did not have a valid driver's license and his license had been suspended at least six times since 1996

Do you have a link? Is that the whole story? 6 times? From drinking?

DL suspended 6 time in six years - must be a record. sounds like CT is pretty lax on issuing DL to drunk drivers! One less DD to worry about on the road!

Martinez was running for re-election this year against Republican Duffy Acevedo. The New Haven Democratic Town Committee has until seven days before the election to choose a new candidate.

It won't stop him from voting, say, ten or twelve times.

"............, a Democrat, lost control of his car on wet pavement and was hit broadside by a trailer truck, police said."
He should have taken lessons from Teddy "Hell, it's just a little ol' bridge, honey" Kennedy.
He knows how to drive on and in water; comes out fresh as a daisy.
This cretin was probably drunk, and his actions were probably a felony, but...... Conneticut is using their entire truck enforcement unit to try to find some fault with the truck or the truck driver.
Discussed here. (http://trucknet.infopop.net/2/OpenTopic?a=tpc&s=475098473&f=531095973&m=7213031286)

Leave it to demcrats to figure out how to keep the drunk in office. Even dead. At least a dead democrat is less dangerous in government than a live one. Of course a lot of dead democrats vote several times every election so it really don't matter much if a dead democrat is elected by dead democrat voters he's still in power.

This might be callous but if he's a repeat offender, maybe he's better off now. Maybe someone's life has been saved.
