I have registered for Photobucket, but haven't been able to submit any pictures.

Here is the url I am trying to submit:

http://members.cox.net/cderr5/Flush%20the%20Johns.gif

Here is what Photobucket is sending back to me:

* Picture name must only contain letters and numbers

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Rename it and get rid of the spaces, e.g., FlushTheJohns.gif. Note that in the URL you have two cases of %20. Since a URL cannot contain spaces, they are replaced by %20, the hex value for the space character.

It's far easier to move whatever images you want to store in Photobucket to your desktop, then use the Choose button to find the photos and submit them from there. That way, spaces are allowed because no URLs are involved. The Photobucket software replaces the spaces with underlines, e.g., Flush_the_johns.gif.

Thanks for your help. I didn't understand what you wrote, and nothing worked. However, Photobucket has a new home page, which I was able to post under the URL of the graphic, and my golly it worked for me! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rotflmbo.gif I don't even know if I used the correct terms.....sorry! Still learning at this end.

The way I send graphics to Photobucket is to put all the images I want to upload in one place, usually on the desktop. Then I sign in and use the Choose button to go to the DT and select the first graphic. The site then uploads it from the desktop. After that, as long as the session is open, PB will go back to the DT every time Choose is clicked.

It's also good in that if the source of the graphic ever disappears, and the need to resend it ever arises, the file is still stored on my machine.

I've never tried to use a URL from another site as the source of the image.

I was able to figure out how to upload the graphic on the desktop. At Photobucket, can't find the Choose button. There is a Browse button which took me to my desktop, but the graphic did not show up there. The "files of type" is All Files. The items listed on my desktop are the normal items, printer, Word, Excel, CD player, earthlink and etc. There is no graphic showing.

They changed the site look, but once logged in, the Choose button is just to the right of the "Add picture" text box. I'm looking at it as I type. This is what I see.

Is that what you're getting? BTW, I don't recall seeing "Add pictures from URL" on the previous format, but it may have been there.

Here is the screen I am getting:

I can't get my screen to post like you did your screen. The Add Pictures from URL is right above and over to the left from your Choose and above the blank when the URL comes in. Gad, I am not explaning this very well...sorry.

Where the word Choose is on your screen, I have the word Browse. I just clicked on Browse, and the same desktop came up as before, no graphic choice.

To post a screen shot, hit the Print Screen key just to the right of F12. That copies the screen to the clipboard. It can then be pasted into any graphics program and cropped to isolate the relevant part of the screen. The cropped image can be saved as a graphics file (preferably JPG) and uploaded to Photobucket.

If you don't have a good graphics program, I always recommend Irfanview (http://www.irfanview.com), the Swiss army knife of freeware programs. Be sure to fetch the plugins as well.

BTW, I donated to the site, so that might result in a different screen.
