Dumb Question Of The Day
OK guys, I know just enough about computers to be dangerous!!! I have a question for you all. What would cause this to happen: I have been on/off the boards today as usual, no problems whatsoever. I have all my boards profiles set up to "remember" me. Signed off earlier, no troubles. Get back on tonight and every board has me wiped out and I have had to reactivate/request new passwords (been so long since I had to enter them I forgot 99% of them and can't find me cheat sheet). What would cause that to happen and what do I need to do next time it happens?

Apparently your cookies reset or you lost them all together.

I thought you lost your marbles first?? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif
That is the first time that has happened to me, ever. I have never had them just ppfffftttt go away like that. I go in every once in a while and delete cookies and weed them out manually but never had them just ALL disappear on me/reset. There is a first time for everything though!

Question: did you run AdAware or SpyBot? If so, they treat cookies as the enemy and default to deleting them.

I run Spybot/Adware every couple of days but they have never deleted any cookies before. It did it again this afternoon. I have no idea why. It's starting to piss me off.
best check your settings and see if they've changed on the cookies settings.
and dump the Temp Internet files along with the cookies, and see if that stops the prob.
or just dump the Temp Internet Files if you havent, might be backing up too much of that and causing probs onm your machine.

If you recently downloaded an update to Spywareblaster or similar program, it may have reset the default to wipe out cookies when you close your browser {IE, I presume}. Check the settings on all such programs, and review your IE settings under Tools - Internet Options - Advanced.
It sure sounds like you are set somewhere to dump the cookies when you close the browser. If that isn't it, I'm stumped.

I'm stumped also. I have pretty much done everything you all have recommended. So far today, no problems but we will see how it goes. Thanks all for your help.
