As they should. Yukon has been lobbying for a $10.00 per bullet tax for several years. Someone finally listened to his wisdom.

Texas Lee: Welcome to Warlady's board.

Re your post: do you have a link to the ammunition tax story? I'd like to check it out.

Yukon1: The power to tax is the power to destroy, as you know. I wonder how you will feel after you're mugged for the first time. Can you admit to being able to have a different perspective?

So rich folks can now get something poor folks can't, huh? Is this the height of hypocrisy from the liberals or what?

Note to self: When visiting MD, bring ammo for illicit, tailgate sales. With ammo expensive, I can make a profit selling commercial ammo...If its good for the Kennedys, its good for the Crash Man. I might be able to lose the R and become the Cash Man....

Padre, don't run off again. I'll ask you again, and please answer honestly.

You wake up in the middle of the night because you think there is an intruder lurking around downstairs. You call the police and your line is dead. Your cellular just went kaput. You have no way to get out of the house because you have nailed your window in a special way to keep burglars out, and in a fire, you could break the glass to get out safely, but breaking the glass at this time would probably bring the intruder into your room with possibly guns blazing in your direction. You have children in another room also.

What do you suggest doing?

And, if you do not answer, then how can anybody take your bullet tax seriously, heh heh.

Keith:

Don't waste your effort. MD is a skinny little state adjacent to four others. Any hostage of coercive MD laws can pick up cheap ammo next time they cross the state line. You can't tell me WV or VA will tax ammo anytime soon.

Doesn't an excessive ammo tax fall under the category of the 2nd Amendment's "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall NOT be infringed"? Sure as hell sounds like infringement to me.

Excellent article Ted. Thanks!

Warlady, I think this would actually fall under the commerce clause, as it is an attempt to do nothing more than limit sales. Legal eagles, help me out here. Would this not be similar to the lawsuits recently dismissed against gun manufacturers because the courts ruled they were nothing more than an attempt to achieve a ban monetarily that could not be done legislatively, and was therefore a violation of the commerce clause?

I could like you Yukon. You remind me of what my dad told us kids,"What you don't know won't hurt you, it will kill you"

I have asked my myself and my family the question you were asked. If I were being assaulted my family would rather have me kill the criminal than have the criminal kill me. And I would rather kill a criminal assaulting my family than have the criminal kill or assault my family. Imagine how you would feel if any of your family was assaulted and you did nothing to stop it. I would find that very hard to live with. Now true the chances of actually being assaulted might be slim, but why not be prepared. And this type of preparation is not paranoia.

I read somewhere and have been trying to find it again that oover 60% of people in gun free (ya right) England will face assault during their lifetime.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, even if it is wrong!

I just got back, and thanks, Padre, for the reply. All I can say about the intruder situation is if there are going to be dead bodies, it is better that the bodies belong to the intruders. Of course, you need overwhelming force to protect yourself and your family. The firearm is the best equalizer.

WOLF,

In the hypothetical situation you described you never put a gun into the equation. Given the circumstances you posed if I had a gun I would, of course, USE IT. There would be a few "dead brothers" in my front room.

That was coming. I was going to ask if, given a choice between a baseball bat and a .45 automatic, you would choose the gun.

Ultimately we will all become handloaders in order to own inexpensive ammunition. Not only is it less expensive, it is fun, it is educational, it is safe, and your loads are more accurate. Until then, just get your cheap ammunition at www.ammoman.com. (http://www.ammoman.com.) Not taxes, no shipping charges, fast delivery. What a country.
