LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A group supporting natural breasts staged a small street protest in Hollywood on Wednesday against a U.S. military policy offering free breast implants to female soldiers.
The group, led by porn star and former California gubernatorial candidate Mary Carey, said the military should spend its money on "bullets, not boobs."
"I think girls should have natural boobs and natural beauty," Carey said after unveiling her own breasts in the protest at an Army recruiting office on Sunset Boulevard.
"Women should be happy with their bodies and what they're blessed with," the 24-year-old star of 37 porn films said.
Her words and deeds drew cheers from a small group of men who had gathered to watch the event. Passing cars sounded their horns in response to a sign that read "Honk if you love natural breasts."
Carey, who wore green camouflage shorts and bikini top, assured all that her own breasts were real.

This sounds too weird. The military buying breast implants? Really, this is too weird! Yes, the military should stick to buying bullets if it's true!

WTF is the matter with all these daddy's little princesses? And how in the hell do those clowns who offer those operations get away with it?
The weenies who are dressed in Military costumes need to leave immediately and allow the real Military in REAL Military uniforms to serve.

*scratches head* Yah, know, that's an interesting point. Wonder what's cheaper, a bullet proof vest or kevlar implants? Either way one has protection.
Seriously though, keep buying bullets, not implants! With many people not wanting women on the front lines, it's a waste anyway.
When you have a military putting reservists on months worth of a waiting list just to see a dr for serious ailments they got when in Iraq, one wonders where their priorities are when they PAY for 'breast enhancements and other such crap' yet do what they have been doin to the reservists.
Whats the matter with em???

Your tax dollars being flushed down the drain. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/flushlib.gif.gif

No the ones getting free boob jobs.
man if they are so lacking in self-esteem over the perception of little boobs, maybe they need to go elsewhere and not bother the military in the first place???

When did the military start giving a crap about self esteem. Must have happened during SlickWillies mis-administration.
well they DID give trainees in Boot camp time out cards LOL

As explained here (http://www.af.mil/news/story.asp?storyID=123008367) Air Force doctors, and their counterparts across the Defense Department, perform elective cosmetic surgeries, but not to the extent people have been led to believe, according to Air Force Medical Service officials.... There is no charge for reconstructive surgery related to trauma, burns or disease,” Doctor Legan said. “Solely cosmetic surgery for an active-duty Airman requires no payment unless cosmetic implants are part of the procedure; the implants are paid for by the Airman prior to surgery.”
No surgery is done on active-duty members for weight reduction, Doctor Legan said.
“For other beneficiaries, solely cosmetic surgery is chargeable based on the procedure and whether it is performed on an inpatient or ambulatory basis,” Doctor Legan said.

Anybody can tell the difference between silicone and real. Unless the woman took one of those pills that are swallowed, to grow silicone inside the breasts.

Nods. Fake ones usually look like a pair of cantaloupes ready for market. Rigid as Hillary in bed with Bill.
Suzie

There are some more natural "looking" than others. As for how they "feel" I couldn't tell you. Seems Nos has had the oportunity to perform a rigidity test so maybe he knows .. err "first hand".
I would think they would have a big negative impact on female soldiers. It would be more difficult to run and if you are shot you will be leaking more than blood.

I don't know how they feel either. I believe it was Brigitte Bardot who said that natural breasts will lie flat when the woman is on her back. I'm also going by tell-tale scars, besides stupid-looking aspect, et cetera, of silicone breasts screwed up by the surgeon.
I see nothing wrong with breast jobs if they are done as corrective surgery, like after some injury, or mastectomy, or excessive breast fat that causes pain. I think if Military members want to get a cosmetic breast job, they need to come up with their own money.
Suzie
08-20-2004, 04:44 PM
I agree on all those things Wolfie. And Bardot is telling the truth. I don't know if the fake ones don't do the same though.
Aren't they just creating bigger "targets"?

About the breast implants offered by the military. Surgeons have to do so many operations a year to keep their certifications. Also, especially with so many women serving on the so close to the front lines now (my daughter Jazz was wounded by a grenade several weeks ago), some reconstructive surgeries have already taken place the doctors do need to keep their skills sharp.
Nose jobs and all other elective plastic surgeries are offered. I was a benificiary of this program (it has been around a long time), when I was shot in the face in Somalia.
The doctors are paid a flat salary for their service regardless of how many surgeries they perform so there is not much added expense.
With some women it isnt all vanity though one has to admit some find problems that call for radical mastectomies and some doctors reccomend reconstructive surguries.
depends on how bad the women may be to have to go for radical mastectomies, or health problems call for such things.
its a complicated mixture with some.
but its not altogether often, thats why I would see this done on a case-by-case basis, and just like speed said some need reconstruction due tot heir service or injuries sustained in their service.
depends.

And to keep their skills sharp, doctors need to perform several surgeries even if it is on an elective basis. In the long run, this is for the good of the soldiers. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/patriot.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/votebush.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tank.gif
Reconstructive surgury is a norm for those men who sustain injuries in battle, thus yes it would be beneficial for soldiers if the dr's have some means of experitse in that field.

Is this being done by strictly by military doctors or by the high dollar plastic surgeons? I mean getting stuff like this done by private doctors ain't cheep! If the military insurance covers it they should be able to get it done places other than on post.

These are being done by military doctors. Just a little info for some people unfamiliar with how the military gets their doctors. A lot of the doctors (most, really) come from private practice. A lot of them made a lot of money in private practice, love medicine but were either driven out by high malpractice costs or just got tired of the expense and hassle of private practice. Some get in and do some time out of a sense of duty.
The military does not train doctors. They do not take an enlistee and give him a Doctor MOS and train him.
Once these doctors, already skillful in their own right are in the service, the military keeps their skills up by allowing them to perform these operations.
As I said before, my daughter is home right now healing from being wounded. Just days ago we found out her injuries were worse than we imagined when she started having vision problems all of a sudden. She has a partially detatched retina and will have surgery to correct it. The doctor that diagnosed this is already trying to find the best surgeon for this no matter what base he may be at. One of the Doctor's he mentioned has kept his skills sharp by perform a lot of lasik. Like I said, in the end, this benefits the soldiers. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/patriot.gif
