I think people here need alternative formatting tags here for this board since we cannot use HTML anylonger.

Is there ANYONE that can help those of us that like to format our title heads to the stories we post??

PLEASE!?!

It would be very much appreciated, as i have used just bout everything to do formatting of my font sizes for my topic titles.

Well, since most UBB codes here have been disabled as well, you are pretty much stuck with italics, bold and underline. It looks like the admins left only the very basics.

You can use the color tags to change the font color if you want to highlight something.

************************************************** **
Example: (Remove the tick marks from here)
['color:blue']Blue Text['/color']

Result:
<font color="blue">Blue Text</font>
************************************************** **

************************************************** **
You could also use bullets to list things as well.

Example: (Remove the tick marks from here)
['list']
This is the first bulleted item.
This is the second bulleted item.
['/list']

This:
<ul type="square"> This is the first bulleted item.
This is the second bulleted item.
[/list]
************************************************** **

I will check to see if more are still available.

why are the UBB codes disabled for?

I know why, security reasons, as some jerkoffs can use HTML executables to screw up a board thats why.

Boards like this one, use PHP for most of the board's executable code. There are always security risks when running such a board, as in a lot cases, it is very simple to just type in an innocuous URL and gain access to sensitive areas. A lot of the new blogging software out there is notorious for that.

I get these type of security alerts all of the time, sometimes several a week, via Secunia Security Updates. That is one reason I use IkonBoard CGI for my forum. Although it is generally slower, it is less of a security risk, mainly because it is not used as much anymore, since most boards run PHP nowadays.

As for security risks, it all depends on 1) if the board operator is running the latest version of the board software, 2) if the developers are keeping on top security risks and 3) if those security patches are applied properly.

My guess is that there was a security alert posted RE:UBB boards and until a patch is published, the admins here thought it was better to shut them down for now. Although, I did not get one recently.

HTML has been turned off in all of the forums that allow regular users to post.

The important UBB codes (for polls, quotes, color, etc.) should still be available.

Is the HTML turned OFF for good?

Personally I'd treat it as being off for good till they decide otherwise.

This!

UBB Codes are just another way of doing the same things you can do with HTML, I believe UBB Codes are exclusive to boards like this (Nos can correct me if I'm wrong)

HTML being turned on on any forum is a BAD idea. The security issues are mind boggling. That is why there is vB code (UBB code, BB code, etc.) to use as an alternative.

I have used vB for a few years now and I have NEVER turned HTML on. Ever. Very few system admins I know personally turn it on. The security risk, especially these days, is entirely too great.

All message board software that is worth a darn have these codes built in (vB, UBB, phpBB2, WBB etc.)

your best bet is to not use the "quick reply" function and use the regular reply function and the use the navigation buttons at top to format your message. It's mostly just a matter of clicking and the icons tell you waht each does when you do a mouse-over (bold, insert image, quote, etc).
