Does anyone else see what is wrong with our language sitter?

Matthew21:2, KJV Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an *** tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me.

Censor programming is literal, not intelligent. It often stars out perfectly innocuous words, e.g., the Japanese company, Matsu****a.
Ex 25:5 And rams' skins dyed red, and badgers' skins, and ****tim wood...
It's not perfect by any means.

I was thinking, maybe posters need to be notified of overboard sailor language usage here, and trim themselves accordingly, instead of the forum relying on some "stupid until told exactly what to do" computer.

Some have been told many times to watch their language ... yet continue. I didn't even know this was turned on, perhaps it was a last resort of desperation so people can surf thru the site and not worry about the kids peeking over their shoulder.
You know the purpose of smileys are to help you express yourself, for instance http://webpages.charter.net/connectingzone/disagree/31.gif can be used in the place of many things and this http://freeconservatives.com/smilies/321.gif to a small child looks like they are "counting".

I don't mind being told to watch my language, but it takes some sort of a weenie parent to worry about some kid peeking over his shoulder. My grandkids understand completely the word 'NO'. My kids are old enough. About expressing yourself, how do you call a donkey an *** with smilies?:D

Some of us would like to be able to read a site with a child on our lap. You would think at a conservative site with a religious forum might be a place one could do that. But some times the religious posters are the biggest offenders. If it gets to the point where a can't post here with a child on my lap I have to quit posting. Small normal text isn't so bad because they aren't going to notice or be able to read that but we have people posting images that would be blured out if it was on TV and big flashing or 3 inch tall letters saying something vulgar is something that is going to jump out. I opened a thread one time with those big bold huge signs and my daughter could see it from across the room and wanted to know "what kind of site are you looking at?" when you don't know it's coming it's hard to tell them not to even look in your direction.

I do not consider this forum or any other forum a site for any pre-18-year-old, or for any thin-skinned sensitive individuals of any age. I consider myself conservative, but I can make any sailor or truck driver wince at some of my choice cuss words, which I do not employ here.

Well that's good, you are capable of nannying yourself, it seems some people can't. So someone turned on the filter, but once again ... my opinion is that in normal text kids in the room with you aren't going to notice, but some go out of there way to show off their vulgarity when the little smileys would make their point without anyone having to blindfold their kids when they sit on your lap. At my site I ask that no one put anything on the site that you wouldn't see on regular cable TV, so that is hardly G rated but this isn't my site. Censorship isn't good, but apparently someone got tired of having the same discussion with the same people for the umpteenth time. When a lot of people who enjoy the site for everything other than that are growing tired of it and asking them to tone it down doesn't work what else can you do? Some of us have to answer the PM's of those offended and would certainly rather be doing something else. And nothing said seems to solve the issue.

I think the recalcitrant ones should get three strikes and they're out of the forum for a certain period of time. A bit rough, but it may make people think.
Is 'whack his peepee' censored? Nope. I guess not.

I would support that personally, but I don't believe anyone cares what I think. http://webpages.charter.net/connectingzone/happy/6.gif
But it does get old ... very old and I get very tired of dealing with it.

I have been doing that for years, you see smilies do not have body parts and the ones they do have dont look real enough to be dirty. :)

Yes. Hire somebody else besides a modern-day college graduate to update the language checker.

I remember when I got my first forum software and it censored something about pilots sitting in the cockpit. :)
We just need more fellas like you Wolfie that's all it is. I have worked with a lot of cops and a lot of military with strong language and I always found the most successful and responsible ones wouldn't use certain words in mixed company, but I know they did do that if they didn't know we were around. I married one of them. :)
Then there were the ones that didn't care but they seemed to have little respect for women in general.

Imagine reading some important instructions on the monitor, and you see something like "WARNING! Whatever happens, do not ***** the pet**** before turning the ****** out completely."
