Americans have been bombarding New Zealand officials with inquiries about emigrating since President George W Bush was re-elected last week.

The Immigration Service in Wellington said its website recorded 10,300 hits from America the day after Mr Bush was re-elected, more than four times the average of 2,500. A further 300 inquiries were being received daily by telephone and e-mail, compared with about eight a day before the election.

Don Badman, the service's marketing manager, said: "It has exploded. It really started picking up from 11pm on the night of the election." Interest is especially strong in Democrat-voting San Francisco and Los Angeles, where before the election many people threatened to leave if Bush won.Bush victory starts rush to leave US for 'safer' life abroad (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2004/11/09/wus09.xml)

The sooner the asshats leave, the better. Let some other country deal with the scumbags. The one thing we SHOULD do is revoke the citizenship of every one of the bastards and make damned sure they don't come back.

Leaving San Francisco and Los Angeles!

Praise BE. Maybe housing will become more affordable. Maybe some jobs will open up. Maybe Gavin Newsome will go too.

Sounds good Doc but I don't think that's legal. You have to have a good reason to revoke a citizenship. Thank God.

Wonder why New Zealand.

It's pretty easy to immigrate to New Zealand.
It's cheap too. Of course, I agree...
If these people leave, they should have to deal with the grueling process of re-entry to America like anyone else does.
Actually, you give up citizenship if you leave the country for 5 years. So, let's hope they go and the Republicans win the next election too. That should do it.
:D

I was in New Zealand this year during the Olympics and have family in Australia.

I hasten to remind those planning to go to NZ or Australia that these countries are *NOT* going left. They are going right for that matter.

NZ does not recognize gay marriage and will not anytime soon. The native Maoris are against redefining marriage and the Destiny Church, one of the largest Maori churches is lobbying against recognizing gay marriage.

It has low taxes and has no plans of increasing them. Australia recently voted Right of center, and Bush supporting John Howard for his 4th term. And of course, Australia recently voted NOT to recognize gay marriage. The Family Party won big in the recent elections and the left wing green party lost big.

These people ought to go to France or Germany or other European countries if they really want to find people of like mind. In a sense, Canada would be a better fit, but I amnot sure if the people from Alberta, Manitoba or Saskatchewan will welcome more people who think like Quebecois.

I'm tellin ya, we need to send them all to the Kerguelen Islands. 50-60 MPH sustained winds, snow at sea level in mid-summer and it's French owned. I just can't think of a nicer place for them.

Actually these folks are talking about giving up their citizenship. I think there should be an amendment passed that prevents US citizens from having dual citizenship in another country and vice-versa. You are either an American or you are not. Period.

I agree with DD. Let them all go, but make them understand if they do they can never again be a US citizen again. They can come visit as a citizen of whatever liberal country they choose, but they are no longer able to be a part of our wonderful democracy.

Those looney liberals only have a few places to go: the province of Quebec in Canada or Western Europe.

To these liberals I say: goodbye, and don't let the door hit your rear end on the way out. http://freeconservatives.com/smilies/bye-bye_kittie.gif

Truthfully, the lib-nuts can't leave soon enough to suit
my tastes, it would be such a more wonderful country
without all their incessant whining, moaning, complaining,
and just trying to force their hedonistic values upon a
greater population!
