Puzzle Thread

Try to stump your fellow FCers here! ALL kinds of puzzles/teasers/games are welcome. Here is a puzzle I created to get things started:


Note: The instructions are long, but the idea is simple. Looking at the example should clear up any confusion.

Instructions: Below you will find three lists of words. For each word, you need to add a letter that will form a new word (you may have to do some rearranging). If you pick the right letters, then the added letters in each list will form (after being rearranged) the username of an FC user that has at least 100 posts to his/her name. (You don't have to go looking through the member list. All of the usernames will be very familiar to FC regulars. )

Please note: I realize that it is easy to add a letter to almost any word and form, after doing some rearranging, a new word. HOWEVER, since the goal is to create out of each list the username of an FC regular, only certain letters will get you closer to that goal.

For example (and this is an easy example), if you had:

KIND
GIN
VANE
RAID


You could go:

KIND + R --> DRINK
GIN + A --> GAIN
VANE + L --> NAVEL
RAID + B --> RABID

The added letters would be R, A, L, B. However, even when rearranged, these letters don't create a username of an FC regular.

After a little thinking, you might try again with the same group and go:

KIND + R --> DRINK
GIN + K --> KING
VANE + I --> NAIVE
RAID + N --> NADIR (or DRAIN)

The letters added to each word to form the new words were R,K,I,N, and thus the answer to that puzzle would be RINK.

Hint: You will never simply make an existing word plural (although some words may or may not be plural).
