Sore Loser Kerry Mulls Lawsuit Against Swiftvet O'Neill

Failed presidential candidate John Kerry is considering filing a libel suit against the leader of the group Swiftboat Veterans for Truth, John O'Neill, whose book "Unfit for Command" is credited with capsizing Kerry's Vietnam-based campaign.

"I don't know if they will actually go forward," a member of Kerry's inner circle told New York Post's PAGE SIX, edited by Richard Johnson. "But consideration is serious. If Kerry plans on running again in 2008 — and I'm hearing he will — it would make sense that he'd file the suit."



Co-authored by Jerry Corsi, "Unfit" sold over 800,000 copies, much to the chagrin of top Democratic strategists, who threatened legal action against bookstores that carried the tome.
Attempts to suppress the book only backfired, catapulting "Unfit" to the top of the New York Times bestseller list for five weeks in a row.

If Kerry goes forward with this I'd expect it's not so much for him but the DNC. They'll be doing this and other things to try to intimidate independent groups for the 2008 campaign. I'd be surprised too if the Dems and their RINO friends (McCain, Hatch, Specter) don't try for more "campaign reform" to further "fix" the problem.

The truth isn't libelous. The only way that he could make a case would be to release his military records to disprove the book's statement. That will never happen because they work against him and he knows it, else he'd have done it during the campaign. And he certainly would rather not have a court review his recorded, sworn testimony to Congress that he committed war crimes.

O'Neill's lawyers can subpoena every piece of paper Kerry owns from birth on. What this does show is how far Democrats will go to violate the free speech rights of anyone who opposes them.
