Red Glove, Blue Paper Clip, Black Armband and a Tin Foil Hat 12/4/04
Why did John Kerry lose the 2004 Presidential election? Forget what the pundits say. It was the Tin Foil Hats that did him in. In the weeks and months that followed 9/11 it was considered inappropriate to criticize or lampoon the President. The Democrats wanted badly to continue to “Bash Bush” but they couldn’t, so they rode the coat tails of the Tin Foil Hats. The Tin Foil Hat attack worked so well, the Democrats decided to ride it all the way to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. That was their downfall.
What is the Tin Foil Hats (TFH)? They are the people that put forward every kook theory as fact and every fact as a grand scheme or cover-up. Michael Moore could be called the grand wizard of the group; a trip to the Democraticunderground.com (DU) will show you some other members of the club. Once you see a harebrain article, click on the link and that will take you deeper into TFH territory. Here are some examples of their thinking, Bush new about 9/11, Bush let it happen so he could build a pipeline. The twin towers were blown up. A missile not an airplane hit the Pentagon. Bush is a terrorist. Bush is a war criminal. Bush kept 1,000,000 blacks from voting in Florida. Bush stole the 2000 and 2004 elections. Bush wants to create a theocracy. Bush has Osama and is holding him. Bush allowed Osama to escape. Bush will cancel the 2004 election, declare Marshall law and remain in power (This one will be used again in 2008). There are many more. When these kook theories began to enter the mainstream political debate, the election was lost.
The Hats are not letting the election results get in the way of a good time. Look for Blue paper clips on collars to show solidarity. Look for Black “Not Me” bracelets or Black ribbons/armbands to show they didn’t vote for Bush. Look for Red Gloves to say, “Stop stealing elections". They are still taking to the streets to protest; G.I. Joe, War, WTO, The World Bank, Taco Bell, Black Box Voting, stolen elections and a host of other things.
I think Karl Rove must be behind the DU and the other TFH web sites. He wanted to give the leftist kooks a chance to bring down the Democrats. At this point let me say this “I’m not calling Democrats Tin Foil Hats". Many of these people are not Democrats, they are Anarchists or Greens or whatever. They seem to have developed a symbiotic relationship with the party based on the Anti-War Anti-Bush theme. I don’t see how the Democrats can distance themselves from the Hats, that genie is out of the bottle. However four years is a long time and anything can happen.
