Resolved: The ABA sucks!

One of those things you assume you are supposed to do when you get your JD (especially if your first boss pays for it) is join the ABA. I did. I never got one thing out of it, but at least someone else was paying my dues.
That was in 1981. Since then it seems to me the ABA has become essencially a communist-front organization. They came totally out in the Bork hearings. I quit my membership. I urge anyone who will listen to me to do so as well.
It seems the ABA has really just become totally taken over by leftists and now trumpets any lefty cause the plaintiff's bar tells them to trumpet. Does the ABA do anything now for lawyers, other than shill for the big mega firms? I don't see it if they do.
Why, after the disgrace of the Bork hearings, and the fact they represent only a tiny fraction of the lawyers of the USA, do they get any special say in the screening of judicial candidates. If I were Bush and nominated a USSC justice, I wouldn't even seek to vete him/her before the ABA.
Screw 'em.

I was hoping someone would come to its defense so we could "discuss" it. But, I guess everyone agrees the ABA is a communist-front organization . . .

Right on. The ABA is not a bar association. It used to be, but isn't anymore. It should be kicked out of its role in evaluating judicial appointments.
It is now a lobbiest organization with an agenda - largely a feminist agenda.
I joined in 1983, and quit in 1986. Couldn't stand reading the "ABA Journal." What a glossy rag!
