This is probably not the appropriate thread for this, but since I am the Moderator of this particular forum, I am excercising my perk clause to put it here anyway, :D

My (13 yr old) daughter loves to write poetry, and I thought I would share a couple of poems she wrote that I think are really good.

Grace<O:p</O:p

<O:p</O:pSister, oh sister,<O:p</O:p

I never knew you,<O:p</O:p

I never heard your voice,<O:p</O:p

I never saw you, oh my sister<O:p</O:p

Named Grace.<O:p</O:p

You never got to enjoy the wonders of life.<O:p</O:p

You never got to talk.<O:p</O:p

You never got to walk.<O:p</O:p

Oh how I wish you were here.<O:p</O:p

We never got to share a room.<O:p</O:p

We never got to fight,<O:p</O:p

Or share our tears.<O:p</O:p

Oh I wish you were here<O:p</O:p

So much.<O:p</O:p

I know I am being selfish,<O:p</O:p

And I know you are in a better place.<O:p</O:p

I will see your beautiful face<O:p</O:p

Someday,<O:p</O:p

And together we will sing<O:p</O:p

Amazing Grace.<O:p</O:p

<V:p</V:p<O:p</O:p

<O:p</O:p

The Truth Remains

<O:p</O:p

The war was won,<O:p</O:p

But little did they know it had just begun.<O:p</O:p

The flag remains.<O:p</O:p

People came from left and right,<O:p</O:p

Then I heard it was time to fight.<O:p</O:p

The flag remains.<O:p</O:p

I thought about the people who lost their life,<O:p</O:p

Then I sought Jesus to see what was right.<O:p</O:p

The flag remains.<O:p</O:p

He said that soon we would not have to fight,<O:p</O:p

That soon we would live the perfect life.<O:p</O:p

God’s Truth remains.<O:p</O:p

We need to shine the light of the Lord,<O:p</O:p

So that they will know that this is not our home.<O:p</O:p

This is true.

<O:pAlso she has been after me to post her (her words) FANTASTIC idea that no one capitalized on prior to the election. For some reason, maybe I mentioned something about it or something, but she was thinking about the Bill Clinton watch -- remember the one where the nose grows as the time goes? Anyway, she thought someone ought to make a watch with Kerry on it that the face would flip back and forth every hour.</O:p

<O:p</O:pAnyway, just felt like posting this. Ignore or enjoy at your discretion, LOL.</O:p

HSRU, I think that I'll choose to enjoy it. Tell your daughter, "Well done."

HSRU, I think that I'll choose to enjoy it. Tell your daughter, "Well done."Thanks Faithful! I will certainly tell her. You know, there are some disadvantages to homeschooling -- no competitions or award type situations to participate in for such activities. I didn't figure the posters would mind if I shared a little, seeing as how there are no other outlets for her.

Thanks again!
Many Blessings,
Hms

Lovely poems! I did a search and there are many poetry contests she can submit to. Just a thought....

your daughter is a good poet she might want to consider becoming published. Entering contests, and contacting teen mags are best.

Thanks Peach & Prez,

Actually, since posting these I ran into a homeschool acquaintance who let me know a group of homeschoolers decided to get together and make a homeschool anthology with submissions from all ages and grades. I will be sending in some soon.
