Other studies show that states are trying to find new ways to fund schools because the old ways aren't working and that efforts to come up with common standards are looking sophomoric.

Well I was in public schools aka GELPIC's so thats that. That you think the GELPIC's argument is REDICULOUS displays your LACK OF KNOWLEDGE of what's going on! Query: If your ex teaches in public schools, she is the primary conservator or your 8 year old child, and you are convinced that government schools, for lack of a better term, suck, what do you do besides make snide remarks about he schools at every opportunity? This is Plano, where the schools are supposed to be exemplary, but recent stories tell otherwise. It doesn't help that my child attends a school that is about half full of illiterate Mexican kids who are only there becuase the law requires it and who could care less about learning. Multiculturalism sure does stink. We sure need a new frontier where we can establish principles of liberty and standards of conduct. Didn't America used to be like that?

Is it the teachers or the kids that are the problem?You left out a few parts . . . it is a vicious circle: the parents, the kids, the teachers, the system -- all are lacking in the areas that need attention and all are suffering the ravages from all the rest. People can cry all they want about the times they are a-changin', but school isn't. It is time for more educational opportunities, for individuals to open up new areas for learning. The way things are isn't cutting it anymore -- for the teachers, for the students, or for the parents. And just in case there are still those that don't know, I may homeschool, but my Bubba has worked for our local school board system for over 24 years -- I am intimately aware of what's going on in the schools, even though my children aren't subject to government schooling.
