While I am never one to go on the dole I am finding difficulty working after my heart attack.
Has anyone here applied for Disability?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Supra sorry to hear about your health problems. I don't know much about disability but ask away maybe I can help. If you ask specific questions we got some real opinionated people hear that may have some answers.
P.S. Nice Boot's! I want a pair.

Pursue it, Ed. Those programs were meant for people who can't work in situations such as yours. No one I know opposes their use by folks in your situation.

Those are President Bush's boots but you can buy them on Ebay. There is a company on Ebay that sells Presidential memorabilia. That's where I purchased a pair of engraved cufflinks belonging to Ronald Reagan and a set of Air Force One towels. You can also buy leather jackets with the Presidential seal and a ton of other neat stuff. Maybe someone who knows their way around ebay can post the link.

LOL!!!!!!! I'm not opinionated at all! Tee hee.....
Supra, Ty's cochlear implant cost around 100k after tests, hospital, and surgery. So he draws SSDI-child to help with costs that insurance didn't cover. In fact he gets teased about being the Democrat in the family for drawing SSDI but what the hey, it is a tiny amount.
I think you should start the process now anyway. JMO. I say this because it took about 8 months. I went into SS office and it took about 3 hours for the caseworker to enter everything into the system. After the initial application, the gubbmint wanted all the records from the pediatrician, the surgeon, the neurologist, audiologist, and even his gastrointestinal doc. Heck they wanted his teacher and speech therapist to fill out their forms too.
And get this, they weren't convinced of his deafness even though many audiograms showed a PROFOUND bilateral sensori-neural loss. (In other words, nerve deafness) I was stunned. Why would I implant my child if he wasn't deaf with severe speech delays???? Doesn't matter. They wanted one of THEIR docs to examine him. So I took him down to an SS approved ear, nose, and throat doctor. The visit took 3 minutes. Doc took one look at his implant and said, "Yup, he's deaf." No shit!!!
Anyway like I said it took 8 months before approval. You could get the ball rolling so that the benefit will be there if you need it 6-8 months from now. If not, you can cancel anytime. JMO. I'm glad you survived the heart attack. God bless!
