Teacher killer trial lags on!

What wrong with this idiot jury. The kid wasted a teacher, and it's on film. Oh, it's Palm Beach, well, that explains it!

And another thing. Some lawyer points a finger at me like that and he'd next see it after they pulled it out of his ass!

Oops, verdict just came in. Guilty of 2nd Degree. Any Floriduh lawyers here who can tell us the definitional difference between 1st and 2nd?

I am not a criminal lawyer but I have looked at the Florida statutes.

In this case the prosecution sought murder one (30 years to life or death depending on the final score on your sentencing bingo card); the defense sought manslaughter (5 years max) but the jury opted for murder #2 (includes many variables so it could be 1 year to life depending on the judge's seratonin levels that day).

Florida is a very bad place to be a criminal defendant but the kid will not get the max. My guess is that he will be out well before his 30th birthday.

In defense of the jurors, it is a very tough thing to convict a kid of murder. However, this kid comes off as exceedingly cold.

My guess is that white /older / male jurors are determined to convict but black, female, younger jurors are hesitant. Throw in the fact that Palm Beach voter rolls include a lot of upper income elderly white liberals and it likely that the juries will be unpredictable and often squirrely.

I'll bet that there is some juror saying that there are just too many young black men in jail so they should look to give this kid another chance and look past the obvious. I'll bet that particular juror is female and that there is also a racial gap among the jurors.

The truth is, this little bastard went home and got a gun to threaten harass, bully and terrify people. He was angry, vicious and determined to hurt and humiliate others when he pulled the trigger. He has no medical chemical impbalance that causes short-term insanity. Therefore, put him away and throw away the key. He is a sociopath who will likely only get worse. If somebody invents a magic pill that will change him, fine. Otherwise throw away the key.
