Cold Shoulder, Still, For Justice Thomas by Armstrong Williams

Ebony magazine, a longtime staple among the urban audience, has once again studded its pages with their list of the 100 most influential blacks in America. Among the
honorees are a host of cultural, political and social torchbearers, ranging from Secretary of State Colin Powell to record mogul Master P. Notably absent from the list, however, was Justice Clarence Thomas, whose vital role as the only black member of America's highest court was somehow overlooked.

So, let me get this right. By saying that all people are equal, Justice Thomas is alienating the black community? LOL. So sad, but so true. Everyone should know by now that they can't say that minorities are equal to whites. They are *special* images/icons/grin.gif

The race whoring by the great black leaders in this country has reached such a point of radicalism that not being included on that list should be considered a compliment and an honor.

If you aren't in lockstep with the left, you are not "black" "a woman", or whatever. Didn't Patricia Ireland say that Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison wasn't a woman (because she didn't vote in lockstep with the NAGs)?

Consider the black intellectual talent on Justice Thomas's side (ideologically and philosophically speaking):

Alan Keyes
Larry Elder
Thomas Sowell
Condi Rice
Roy Innis and his son, Niger Innis
Walter Williams

Now consider what passes for intellectualism in the mainstream of the black community:

Al Sharpton
Julianne Malveaux
Cornel West
Maxine Waters
Jesse Jackson

The sad thing is that the black community fails to see through the blather and doesn't show these horses' a**es the door.

I'm not sure why we're tip-toeing around this.
Isn't it obvious they don't like his politics?

We can debate whether or not C. Thomas has betrayed his racial ethnicity (if anyone will take up the losing side of the debate), but the NAACP group sympathizers obviously don't care for his ostensibly conservative politics, and thus don't care much for him.
I confess, I don't care much for C. Thomas' politics either. But my complaint isn't that he's too conservative. I think he's WAY too liberal!
He's a timid political fence straddler. So timid in fact he rarely if ever even questions in Supreme Court hearings. What is he trying to hide? What is he afraid of?

Conservatism isn't something to be ashamed of, to be whispered in dark rooms, & communicated with ambiguous gestures.
Conservatism should be sung with volume and pride in the full light of day.

But I confess, ostensible conservatives such as our President do not promote this image with such political pablum terms as "compassionate conservatism". Is there any other kind of conservatism Mr. President?
Why the redundancy?
