What are your jobs? We have all these political discussions, but it would be interesting to know more about each other. While I'm at it, I'll ask more quesions. What channel news do you watch? What shows do you watch? What music do you like? What are you hobbies? What is your typical day like? Tell everyone about yourself :)

I'll start: I'm only 14 so obviouly i'm still a student. But I am interested in sociology. I watch different news channels, like BBC (I live in England), Fox, and CNN (we have satellite tv so we get some American channels too). Shows... pretty much all I watch is Friends, and sometimes I watch space-related documentaries. I like rock music, and my hobbies are tennis, snowboarding, and not much else. My typical day goes like this: wake up, eat, school, come home, spend forever doing homework, go to bed, do it all over again. Sometimes I go to Oxford Street (in London) on the weekends, but I spend my of the time doing homework... fun, isn't it? :D

What are your jobs?

I am a homeschooling mother of two teenagers (currently 7th grade and 10th grader), and a domestic engineer (home-maker/housewife), my Bubba works for the local school board (for 24 years now).

What channel news do you watch?

Unfortunately, the cable where I live (an itty-bitty, tiny one-traffic light town) doesn't get FOX News, except for break-ins for Breaking News or Special Events (like election coverage). For the most part I flip between CNN, NBC, and then in desparation CBS and ABC (I LOATHE Peter Jennings).

What shows do you watch?

Mondays - Monster House (Discovery Channel), American Chopper (Discovery Channel), BlueCollarTV (Comedy Channel), Medium (NBC)
Tuesdays - American Idol, OverHaulin' (The Learning Channel), NYPD Blue (until it ends later this year)
Wednesdays - Lost, then I just flip the channels around or surf the web
Thursdays - Joey (sometimes), and ER or Without A Trace if ER is a re-run
Fridays - Joan of Arcadia, and Monk (but I want to watch the new show Numb3rs, but it comes on opposite of Monk)
Saturdays - Bubba gets the telly to watch sports
Sundays - Trading Spaces Family (The Learning Channel), Extreme Home MakeOver, Boston Legal
I WANT to watch Enterprise on UPN, but my cable doesn't provide it! :(

What music do you like?

All kinds, but usually listen to: Christian Contemporary, Country, '80's, and Oldies

What are you hobbies?

Anything artistic -- I like to draw, sew, macrame, needlepoint, scrapbook, sculpt, paint, arts 'n crafts, etc. Also I LOVE to read -- mystery, sci-fi, horror, or political. And of course, I LOVE to play on my computer and post at FC!

What is your typical day like?

I have never had a typical day in my life, LOL! How about what my day is SUPPOSED to be like? Wake up, get the kids ready for school (breakfast and feed animals), begin school day -- I ususally have to help my high schooler more than my 7th grader because we are now doing algebra (YUCK!) and Latin II. Afternoon is for my daughter's riding practice (horse), get dinner ready for Bubba, watch a little telly with the family/and or family time together, kids go to bed, me and Bubba spend a FEW (few being the operative word here, LOL) moments alone (ahhhh, quiet!), then Bubba's off to bed. I clean the kitchen, get school work ready for tomorrow, manage my calendar, make notes, THEN I get to play on the computer. When I actually HAVE this typical day, I'll let you know, LOL! :D

Tell everyone about yourself :)

I think the rest you can find in my user profile.

I'm a Business Systems Analyst (got a new job title this month, pretty impressive sounding, ain't it).
My job consists of being the interface between operations, manufacturing and IT. I'm the guy that knows a whole lot about everything. My days are spent testing and debugging the scheduling/ERP/MRP/Inventory/Costing/material movement scheduling software that we developing for our use; coordinating the needs of manufacturing and operations with the resources available in our IT dept.; customizing report templates; being the expert on VBA for Excel; the list just goes on and on some days.
After work...
I go home spend some time with my wife getting up to speed on her world
spend some time with my son helping him with his homework
eat dinner
work at the church when I have time
minister to the people in my lay pastor group
attend Grace Group (our home groups) on Wednesdays
worship practice on the first Thursday of the month
during BMX season (March until snow), we're racing every Friday and a lot of Saturdays
the 12 minutes of free time I have each day I spend reading the paper
and on Tuesday evenings we watch "Dog the Bounty Hunter"
Welcome to my world.
Sounds like an absolute blast being a grown-up, doesn't it?

Your job sounds so complicated! Then again, I can't even understand my own dad's job LOL I just know he's a banker. Just wondering, do you travel often? Have you ever been out of the country? Same question for everyone else if they're reading this.

LOL When you said, "get the kids ready for school (breakfast and feed animals)" at first I thought you calling your kids animals.

Hmmmm, well they ARE teenagers . . . does that qualify as animals?? LOL :jk: We have a whole passel of aminals at our place . . . two dogs (a rotty & a min-pin/Jack Russell mix), a Savannah Monitor, a Thoroughbred horse, and it looks like we are inheriting the dog from next door as our neighbor's son is moving away and choosing NOT to take the dog they have been practically starving to death (another rotty). We have an invisible sign outside our front fence that says "All animals welcome here, Drop your strays, All injured or lost animals cared for here" LOL

I don't think the Joey Show is out here yet. Is it good? I would think it's not as good without the rest of the friends.

It's okay . . . I think Matt LaBlanc can be real funny at times, and the character Joey Tribiani is cerainly one that could be had fun with. Not my favorite sitcom, although I think Drea DeMateo is a hoot (a little to sleazy, but certainly funny).

I'm doing algebra now too. I like it though.

Absolutely, without a shadow of a doubt . . . YUCK! I HATE, nay LOATHE math! And whoever thunk of putting perfectly good alphabet letters in mathematics needs his/her head examined! LOL

Actually, tomorrow morning my son goes to take his CPT (College Placement Test) for dual-enrollment at our local community college. He wants to do the Applied Welding Technologies Program --- please keep a good thought for him.

Is the reason you homeschool your kids because there isn't a good school nearby, or did you choose to?

No, there are more reasons than one why we chose to homeschool, but the biggest was a personal conviction applied to our hearts by God. We actually have pretty decent schools locally (in my little bitty town), but since my Bubba WORKS for the county school board, we know all the dirty little secrets that the general public has no knowledge of (that helped alot with our decision too!)

Both of the kids are highly involved in the community, and last year my son actually played Varsity Soccer (his freshman year of high school!) at the local public high school. He not only lettered, but received the Scholar Athlete Award! He has played school sports since he was 5 years old, and my daughter competes in horse shows. They both have been active in scouting, church & youth groups, as well as volunteer activities. Our family philosophy is to INSULATE the children, not ISOLATE them.

I'm pretty much a homebody. Just getting out of Oregon once a year is a big deal for me. But then, when you live in the most beautiful place God ever created, why leave? :thumb:
