Baked Ziti

1 lb. uncooked ziti macaroni
1 lb. extra lean ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 28 oz. can crushed tomatoes with basil
1 tsp. dried basil
1 tsp. dried oregano
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
16 oz. mozerella cheese, grated
1/4 c. parmesan cheese
1 T. chopped fresh parsley

In a large saucepan of boiling salted water, cook pasta as package directs. Meanwhile in a medium skillet, brown ground beef. Drain grease from pan and transfer ground beef to separate container. Add onion and garlic to skillet, cook stirring frequently until onion is tnder, aboutr 5 minutes. Add tomatoes, basil, oregano, salt, pepper and browned beef. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer 15 minutes. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Drain ziti, return to saucepan. Spray a 13x9x2 baking dish with olive oil spray. Sitr all but 1 cup of sauce into ziti, then stir in mozerella. Spoon into prepared baking dish. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese. Bake about 40 minutes until heated ghrough. Sprinkle with fresh parsley. Pass remaining sauce separately.

Looks good. Love that stuff.
I like to add about 1lb of ricotta (whole milk) to the mixture. A bit like lasagna!

A word of caution, too much cheese & pasta will add pounds. I know I have the pounds to prove it.

I used to eat pasta thinking it was healthy. Little did I realize the carbs were the reason I was gaining weight...DUUHHHHH
I eat pasta maybe once every three months. But when I eat pasta....I EAT PASTA !!!!!!!
