OK, I am married to a Navy guy, but he's and work right now, and is a SeaBee anyway, and THEY DON'T FLOAT as he tells me, so I need someone else to answer this. I got this email from Human Events and I wondered, since WHEN have we flown the Union Jack on our ships?

The USS Reagan (CVN 76) is at sea, providing our nation with a forward presence abroad. An important symbol aboard this aircraft carrier is the First Navy Jack Flag (http://c1.xsi1.com/ct2.cgi?url=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5oZWJvb2tzZXJ2aWNlLmNvbS 9ib29rcGFnZS5hc3A/cHJvZF9jZD1jNjIwNSZzb3VyX2NkPUhBRTAzODAwMQ==&appno=5435&mrn=46125646&xqn=13157&url_no=3). This historic icon bears a rattlesnake and the warning "Don't Tread on Me," sending a clear message to America's foes.
The Secretary of the Navy, Gordon R. England, has ordered all U.S. Navy ships to fly the First Navy Jack (http://c1.xsi1.com/ct2.cgi?url=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5oZWJvb2tzZXJ2aWNlLmNvbS 9ib29rcGFnZS5hc3A/cHJvZF9jZD1jNjIwNSZzb3VyX2NkPUhBRTAzODAwMQ==&appno=5435&mrn=46125646&xqn=13157&url_no=3) in place of the Union Jack for the duration of the Global War on Terrorism. In a memo to all ships and stations, England explained, "The temporary substitution of this Jack represents a historic reminder of the nation's and Navy's origin and will to persevere and triumph."
