Ouch. Sorry to hear that.
I've sometimes considered what I would do if I suddenly became homeless as a young person:
Have you considered the U.S. military? They won't take me for reasons I described in this forum; but, maybe you could fall back on them? I don't know if you have a family of whom to take care.

Maybe you could get a room -mate to share expenses with and there by afford a slightly more expensive place.

Do they have a YWCA there?

How much time did your Mother give you?
I agree with ClintReese. I joined the Army a month after graduating from high school. A few years with the green machine will give you fond memories. But don't join if you can't soldier. It's not for everyone.

Here are supposedly 2 of them in NY State:
Office: YWCA Brooklyn
Address: 30 3rd Ave
Brooklyn, NY 11217-1822
Phone: 718-875-1190
Fax: (718) 858-5731
Office: YWCA City of New York
Address: 610 Lexington Ave
New York, NY 10022-6005
Phone: 212-755-4500
Fax: 212-755-3362
Maybe one of those is close enough for you to make it?
(I didn't know this existed until Warlady mentioned it, of course. Nice resource for women, apparently.)

Good job Clint. Then you have until May Prez. Is she firm about it? Do you want to talk about why she's tossing you out?

Salvation Army for a start. Do you have a church home? Could you be someone's live in companion? Moving is hard, very hard, but I can tell you you could live like a Prince or Princess (rent wise) in small towns in Oklahoma. My friends are renting their 20 acre farm, three bedroom house 50 miles from OKC right now for $450 a month. New York is not all there is to the world.
God Bless you

Be creative.
In my early twenties I lived in a camper trailer for 3 years. 10 by 16 feet. Had to flush my shit down with pots and pans.
The only other option was an abandoned yellow school bus with all the seats ripped out. No running water or electricty. It rested on a cliff.
But, both were good options at the time.
Remember, you don't need much to survive. Just a bit of shelter, and a match to light the candle so you can read the KJV.
All else is gravy.
Above all else, God is good. He is Lord of Sukkah.

Yea she is serious. i have to leave because we just cant live together anymore. We argue constantly. our apartment is always filled with yelling. i know this sounds selfish but its like i wil do 10 things for her; 9 i will do right right but she'll bitch and complain about the one thing i did wrong. Its just the same thing over and over again, and quite frankly i cant live with her either. She is making me take medication just so i can stay in the house for now. Its driving me crazy!
wow it felt good to vent.

Sounds like me and my mother-in-law. To her, I can't do anything right. I do wish you luck, Prez. Use the contacts provided and/or contact friends if you can. Something will pan out. I'll pray that it does.
BTW, I'm a bit puzzled the military won't take you over asthma. If it's being treated and not a problem, then they should. They may restrict you from certain jobs but they should let you join. Check around with various branches. If you like, I have a brother in the Air Force whom I can get info from.

Talk to a Marine Corps recruiter.
You may be pleasantly surprised.

If I understand correctly, one can join the Military if the asthma was not acquired after the 13th birthday. In other words, if your asthma has been with you since you were a baby, there is a waiver for that. Military recruiters will let you know. If I were you, I'd go for it, Prez.
Prez, there are places for low-income howsing that you can get your name on, Go to the local DVR (Division of Rehabilitation) office or social aid place and ask for help in finding an emergency shelter or a list of low-income housing you can get your name in on, the faster you put your name on it the better it'll be for you, some places its a long list that takes months to get to you.
if in doubt go to your local Social Security office for help, directions and information as to what to do and who to go to for help.
Thats what they're there for.

Prez? She is forcing you to take medication? What kind of medication? And what is her reasoning for taking it? And how is she forcing you to take it? If you don't feel comfortable telling all of us then please PM one of us. Perhaps someone can help you.

I have been homeless more times than I care to count. I lived in my car for about 9 months. I joined a gym just to take a shower and I went to work every day too. Look for someone to share expenses with. You will be surprised how many are or were in your situation.
There was a park that had a big wooden jungle gym type structure for kids to climb on. I used to crawl under that sometimes to sleep so I could stretch out after sleeping in the cramped car.

Prez, move on down here to old Virginia! You could almost buy a house where I live for $400.00-$600.00 per month. Jobs are not that bad to come by if you don't mind getting your hands dirty. In all honesty, this is a nice area.. and very conservative!

Nah I love New York too much to leave. its...home.
A friend offered housing, so I am considering that. I am skeptical because I would be living with someone elses parent...not the best thought, but better than homeless.

If you kept your area neat as a pin, offered help around the house daily and also $$ for your share of living there, they might be glad to have you.

PLF,ask around your church family. We've got a few families in our church that would be happy to take someone in for a season, so I'm hoping that your's would be the same. There's a lot people out there who have an extra room and could use the money, but they are really picky about who they rent to, so the room stays empty. Show them that you would be an ideal renter and you should be able to find a room this way.

my congregation is so small I wouldn't dare, they have already helped pay my tutition for school I couldnt ask.

If you suffer from Complex Partial Seizures, ( and you feel tired, depressed, weak and instead of sweating when it is hot you just get red) you may want to ask your doctor to consider switching you to Lamictal.

no nene im taking it strictly as a mood stablizer. 50 miligrams. I hate it, dont need it, but shes making me take it. Topomax can encourage weight loss, thats why I'm on it instead of another med. I'm not a New york size two ya know?

Making you take it? Are you irrational if you don't take it? How can she make you take a controlled substance? Was it prescribed to you?

Prez you go to a Catholic school right? Talk to the administration or the clergy there, they might be able to help you out. New York is filled with Catholics and charities, I am sure they could assist you.
