In the Fight Against Terrorism, Some Rights Must Be Repealed
By Junaid M. Afeef
ISPU Research Associate

The newly appointed CIA Director Porter Goss, believes that terrorists may bring urban warfare techniques learned in Iraq to our homeland. If he is right, we could have a whole new war on our hands. The prospect is indeed scary.

The idea of terrorist cells operating clandestinely in the United States, quietly amassing handguns and assault rifles, and planning suicide shooting rampages in our malls, is right out of Tom Clancy’s most recent novel. If not for the fact that the 9/11 attacks were also foreshadowed in a Clancy novel, I would have given the idea no further thought.

However, rather than facing this potential threat publicly, the Bush administration is only focused on terrorist attacks involving missiles, nuclear devices and biological weapons. Stopping terrorists with WMDs is a good thing, but what about the more immediate threat posed by terrorists with guns? The potential threat of terrorist attacks using guns is far more likely than any of these other scenarios.

There ya go. What a concept! Take away all our guns and that will help the War on Terror. Gee, why doesn't he just come right out and say...

Give up all your guns so my Muslim brothers can wage Jihad on you more effectively without worrying about getting their ass shot off. :flame:

The gun-grabbers will use any pretext to confiscate our firearms. No doubt the idiot has a ready explanation re how disarming the citizens will prevent his hypothetical terrorists from stocking up on firepower.

Ii thought after 9/11 all the politicians sang in unison telling the American peoples their rights will NOT be hindered in this 'War on Terrorism'???

They swore and promised no rights will be hindered in any way, as that would be giving terrorists victory over a 'free society'

One more thing, we're ALREADY fighting urban warfare, and that is violent drug-dealing gangs.

Now we have Those wonderful paragons of virtue Maras Salvatrucha MS-13 gangs from El Salvador making inroads into America hunting for Cops to kill and you think for one minute these Violent gangbangers are gonna 'obey the law'

O Puh-Leeeeeeze!!!!!

Only the sheeple will obey the law and the first ones to get whacked will BE the sheeple.

So much for promises by our well-meaning Politicians!!!

I will surrender my guns. When I'm good and dead. As an aside, did anyone notice that the guy who wrote the article has a camel jockey name? Why on earth would a camel jockey want to make sure that we don't have any guns? The name of his organization, the Institute for Peace and Understanding is merely a smokescreen. These guys want no more peace and understanding than do the militants; they just have a "nice" sounding name. It's like the Human Rights Commission which is the nothing more than the homosexual special rights commission. These organizations are nothing more than parties using smoke and mirrors.

Antigone: I looked at their website. I'm convinced that they are only out to enlighten me. I'm sure that once I'm enlightened, I'll gladly surrender my guns so that they can kill me, rape my daughter, and murder my son without my putting up a fight. Yes, they are for peace and understanding, but only on their terms. I'll hang on to my guns for a while longer, thanks. Besides, I have way too much invested. This is my country, not theirs.

The dumbass bitch who wrote this load is dangerous.

She must have missed the memo from the FBI (or was it Homeland Security?) that came out a couple weeks ago indicating that there is NO evidence of terrorist cells on American soil. Actually, it was a full-blown report, not a memo. This was a couple weeks ago. Does anybody remember what I'm talking about?

If we did have terrorist cells in our midst, all the more reason to keep and bear. There is a supreme court case that says the police don't have an obligation to keep us safe from crime. That sounds like the best reason for a call to arms right there, terrorists or no terrorists.

Never give up your guns. Buy or make lots of ammo. Hoard guns and ammo.

I have to wait until next year to become a gun owner, my parents refuse to let me have one. My mom has become a corrupted pinko commie thanks to my 'independent' brother and michael moore (i guess show a sheeple a picture of dopes who wouldnt defend themselves and got shot, and they go right to the idiot side.)

But next year i will definetly have one.

Just incase somebody tries to take it away, in fact.

Better idea to be would be to issue firearms to the militia. And lots of ammo to practice with. Yeah, yeah, and some targets, and hmmmm...wonder if the government would be willing to do this for us.

Remember, an armed society is a polite society.

Lobo the government already has a program such as you describe in place it is the Department of Civilian Marksmanship. When I was a young man all you needed to do to obtain a WWII surplus M1 Garand, M1 Carbine, or Springfield rifle was to join a recognized NRA affiliated club and to shoot a qualifying score. You then obtained a weapon and an almost unlimited source of ammunition from your club for a nominal fee that was set up to pay for the cost of the paperwork only; the cost of running the program came form the Defense Department. I got my first M1 at 16 it cost me a whole $25.

While the program still exists today, it has been unfunded to the point where the cost of obtaining a firearm is now supporting the entire program and has risen considerably. Bill Clinton tried very hard to do away with the DCM entirely, only quick work by conservative Senators kept the program alive at all. Nowadays the need for a trained body of marksman is more important than ever, I urge you all to write your Congressmen and Senators and demand that the DCM be fully funded once again and that the youth marksmanship program it supported be reformed once again.

P.S. To all still interested you can still obtain a Firearm through the DCM; there is still a supply of M1 Garands and 03/A3 Springfield Rifles. The DCM can be reached through their website at http://www.odcmp.com (http://www.odcmp.com/)
