We have a new heifer calf, Freecers and need a name (other than the obvious "sirloin", or "hamburger"). Any suggestions?

She's a doll Sonarman. I'll have to think on it. She reminds me of an oreo but you already have a dog named Oreo. How about Cookie?

Here's a few from my family:

My daughter offers: Moo-lah
My son says: Nestle
Bubba says: BeeBee (as in BB-Q) or Yummy (Bad Bubba, Bad Bubba! http://www.freeconservatives.com/vb/images/icons/icon8.gif :smirky:)
And my suggestion: Clarabelle

A little history on the herd. When the Warlord and Sonarman bought the company they were originally situated in Dallas. This was not acceptable to the Warlord so he and I took a road trip NW of Dallas in search of a building in a smaller town. We came across the builiding they now occupy. You can view it at http://www.seamux.com (http://www.seamux.com/) The Warlord asked me and my Father to remodel the building which sat on 13 oak wooded acres. The building was 77,000 sq feet and needed a LOT of work. It took my Father, my brother and me one year to breathe life into this wonderful place. Across the street from the building was a 4 bedroom house which came with it. It sits on 5 pecan tree wooded acres. There is a pool and 2 wood burning fireplaces. It's really quite nice. But there were no cows. So I bought 2 babies, a heiffer and a bull. Out of my own pocket btw. I had them moved there and they have been breeding ever since. They sold my bull but there is a new bull there now named Zorro. He is the sire of this new little heifer. The Warlord and I had 5 cows at our place but our neighbors complained about them jumping our fence and drinking out of their pool so I had to sell them off. Now we have this little baby in Mineral Wells. Sonarman is her master/daddy. I'm so glad he's there taking such good care of my herd. I say mine because they are. :)

Hereford Baldies, Patriot Heart.

This calf is third generation from WL's original cattle purchase, and about the sixth calf we've had born here.

ROTFL. Have you ever "given a big hug" to a calf, Homes? I did about a year ago, and almost had my ribcage stove in. He was about a month old, and I got a good refresher about how strong those "little" animals can be. I managed to get back to my wheelchair by myself.

I'll publish some more pics.

http://www.freeconservatives.com/vb/images/icons/frightened.gif Okay, maybe just a short pat on the head then, :smirky: . Thanks bunches for putting up more pics. Li'l Bubbette thinks she's just gorgeous, and I do too.

When I was a girl, my Grampa and Gramma raised cattle for milk and meat. They had a hard time telling me what happened to the cows as I got older, so one year when all the babies were born my Grampa took me out and let me pick one (heifer) to be my "special" cow. She was so beautiful, brown and white with the most beautiful eyes. I named her Tootsie (rhyme with hoot, not put). I loved that cow. Believe it or not, she would follow me in the pasture, and she never, ever hurt me. I spent many an hour drawing her in the field. When she passed away, she left a real hole in my heart.

Anyway, Clarabelle is so beautiful Sonar. Congrats!

I have to say that is probably the cutest little heifer I've ever seen!! You're not going to raise her up for steaks are you??

Personally I was gonna suggest Fajita or Nachos, but I decided yall are being way to "Loving and Appreciative" of this calf for my sense of humor. Before yall get the ideal that I am a little on the mean side let me point out my Granpa had a pig named Bacon and a Chicken named Dumplings.

Of course not. They're just big pets..... that end up on the dinner table someday.

Here's the latest pic of the calf and momma.

Mmmmm..... little Clarabelle looks like good t-bone material. Let us know how she grills up.

This reminded me of raising hogs when I was a kid. In order to make it really clear just what their purpose was, my father would mark the packages with name of the pig it came from. Worked just like dating it, but we understood full well that we were eating Henry or Rinky Dink or Martha and that that was their whole reason for existence. I still remember sitting around the table eating Rinky Dink chops.

I have a list of names from dP's farm.... Caroline, Kaya, Pixie, Sweetie, Punker, Molly, Tawny, Trouble, Butterfly, Potion, and Lazer, to name a few.

Personally I love both Clarabelle and Trouble. :D Thanks for the pics Sonar, she is a doll!
