They just announced on Fox news that doctors are now giving Terri morphine to ease her suffering. I thought they said she couldn't feel anything? Hmmmmmm.

O'Rielly had a doctor on the other day for an interview. The doctor worked at a hospice and he said that they gave morphine to patients to relax them and usually used something else for pain. He also said that they really don't know if the patients feel pain or not, but would rather "err on the side of caution". I think that death in this manner is cruel and unacceptable, no matter what spin the doctors/legislators/ right to death advocates place upon starvation and dehydration. This is not unplugging a machine and saying goodbye - this is watching someone die by inches for days on end.
Unfortunately, Magnummom, I have a feeling we still have a long and sickening ride down that slope. This is just the removal of the handbrake.
These people pushing for the death of this innocent woman are liars, bald-faced liars concerning this woman's ability to know whats goin on around her.
Their only desire is to usher in active Euthanasia into America!!!
get used to this!! :flame:

magunummom, you don't give morphine unless a patient is showing signs of pain and discomfort. Morphine isn't to relax a patient. There are many other drugs for that like valium and halcion. Morphine is strickly for pain control.

I can tell you that whenever I have been in for a test/procedure or when they knock me out for extensive dental work (I'm a big weenie), 100% of the time they give me valium to calm me first. I've NEVER been given morphine as a relaxant. Morphine is used to relieve pain. They may say they are using it to relax her, but it's only use in this case (IMO) would be for pain.

You're right Antigone. Any nurse or doctor or pharmacist will tell you the same thing.
The Michael schiavo team are Liars, why wont Jeb bush do something?
Jeb keeps saying 'there's nothing I can do'
In this Case he should ERR on the side of life and ACT!
Where's his backbone???
Are they ALL for killing this woman and not upholding the Constitution and allowing a huge travesty of justice happen???
WTF is the matter with our spineless politicians???
Are judges so powerful they can tell the legislature AND the executive branches what they can and cant do anymore when it concerns the life of an American citizen?
Whatever happened to the freikin U.S. Constitution???
Is it Finally been stabbed to death by the penknives of the judiciary?
The police are too afraid to do the right thing, the Fl legislature are too afraid to do the right thing, the President of the US is too afraid to do the right thing
WHY the heck are they all too afraid for??
This is just the beginning. Somehow, we got to talking on this subject, as fitting for the holiday we are celebrating. And it was mentioned that now, there are others out there with "loved ones" (yeah effin right) who are with feeding tubes. As soon as Terri's murder was authorized, folks all over started the process to kill of their loved ones as well. I need to find links, this was just in a conversation, I heard of some woman in California trying to off her mother in the same murderous fashion.
And now, she can legally do so, it appears.

A woman just called in to Rush and said that the morphine is to hasten the shutdown of Terri's organs--in short, to make her die faster.
Make of that what you will.

Well, If morphine is given to shut down the organs, it isn't working. It says a lot about the state of her health and will to live that Terri Schiavo is still going after 11 days.
