Hi all,

My first post on freecers...I like your site (you have a garden forum!) I've been pretty heavy in another debate board the past couple of years and need a "kinder, gentler" place to escape to now and then!

Anyway, my first post is going to be about gardening because, well, that is what I am beginning to do again. I live in the northeast USA, have owned by house for 2 1/2 yrs and each year adding more flowers, plants, etc around the property. One side of my house though is driving me nuts. It's the north (cold) side, it's pretty shady and damp, gets just a little morning light. I have moss growing at the base of the house all along that side. It faces one of my streets and I'd like to plant something pretty there. What will keep in those kinds of conditions?? Any suggestions?

The only thing I can think of is ferns. There are shady hydrangeas out there too, but that would depend on how much sun you really get, and how deep the shade is.

Maybe Rhodadendrens(or however you spell it)? I know they do well in shade, not sure about moss. But they also like higher elevations. I live in the south along the mountains ranges, and we have lots of them around our house. But I think they like higher elevations and shade. Not sure though.
