Mystery Climate Mechanism May Counteract Global Warming
April 12, 2005
A new study by two physicists at the University of Rochester suggests there is a mechanism at work in the Earth’s atmosphere that may blunt the influence of global warming, and that this mechanism is not accounted for in the computer models scientists currently use to predict the future of the world’s temperature. The researchers, David H. Douglass and Robert S. Knox, professors of physics, plotted data from satellite measurements of the Earth’s atmosphere in the months and years following the volcanic eruption of Mount Pinatubo in 1991. The results, published in an upcoming issue of Geophysical Research Letters (and now online), show that global temperatures dropped more and rebounded to normal significantly faster than conventional climate models could have predicted.
*snip*
Since the explanation of Pinatubo by the computer models was wrong in regard to the response time and the negative feedback, Douglass asks, “Are the computer models right when they consider the change to the climate caused by carbon dioxide?” <!-- Jump on comments here -->

Yawn,
Just another computer model to drool over.........
God do they really think they can predict what will happen 100 years from with confidence, when the weather service, can not make a good weather forecast a week from now.

A new study by two physicists at the University of Rochester suggests there is a mechanism at work in the Earth’s atmosphere that may blunt the influence of global warming...Freely translated, "We know damned well that global warming is bullshit, but we've staked our reputations on it, and we need an escape clause."
God do they really think they can predict what will happen 100 years from with confidence, when the weather service, can not make a good weather forecast a week from now.I go to weather.com once in a while and fetch the ten-day forecast for my area. For the next ten days I compare the predictions to reality, and if they are even close, it's an oddity.
They'd be as accurate if they used dartboards. And they want to tell us what the weather will be in a century or a millenium?
Science places far too much stock in computer modeling. It is all but useless unless it accounts for EVERY variable. With weather forecasting, that's impossible, so at best it's an educated guess.

Whatever happened to the good old barometer?

What I want to know is why is it that every morning MY car is frosted over when every other car on the block is completely frost-free? My wife's van is RIGHT NEXT to my car and it doesn't have a bit of frost on it. When they can tell me why this is, then I'll start listening to these climatologists.

From the article:
In an attempt to approach the climate warming issue from a data-centered, rather than model-centered, way, Douglass and Knox looked for a global temperature-changing event that was well-recorded and did not occur at the same time as other events,
You didn't read the article did you!

I did read it,but I made the disparaging reply about Climate models for a reason:

Take note in the red.

They seem to be against the current use of models themselves. You sounded like you were saying that they were just another model.

I see that they were more interested in real data than models.

...and that this mechanism is not accounted for in the computer models scientists currently use to predict the future of the world’s temperature...I understand what you are saying, Farmfriend... These guys are disputing the reliability of the "current models"... But just watch - they will be silenced by the Enviro-nazis...
Like DocDoom says, the vocal scientific community and Enviro-twits have hung their hats on Global Warming as their best chance to destroy industrial nations (read USA)... As he says, they may be trying to find a back door - a Plan B in case we, the people, dont buy their BS... This new report could also threaten to spoil their little global con-game...
You could fill the Superdome with the factors that are NOT accounted for in the Enviro-nazi models... From my days when I studied Geology I found that most serious Geologists (how can I put this tactfully) dont subscribe to this pop culture psuedo-theory...
I see that they were more interested in real data than models. What a novel new approach to science - Or should I say an old approach, since that was the way science used to be conducted... Models are used by activists with agendas to grind...<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

the vocal scientific community and Enviro-twits have hung their hats on Global Warming as their best chance to destroy industrial nations (read USA).. The Enviro nuts do want to destroy our nation. Socialism is their game. The scientific community is just after grant money and right now global warming is the way to get it.

Farmfriend,
You are seeing why they use issues such as Global Warming and Energy Consumption as a way to advance SOCIALIST solutions.
They are often stupid in doing it since what they say is easily blown away,Factually.
