Why not wolf? I didn't think you were the kind of a fella to be afraid of guns.

"Why not wolf?" --THEBIRD

I'm not afraid of guns of any sort. Those dumbasses, if I hear right, are using ARMOR-PIERCING ammunition. That means if they fire at the bad guys and they miss, or the bullet goes through them, the bullets may puncture the skin of the plane and cause decompression or worse. They need to use custom, frangible loads. Then, no problem for me. I believe every adult passenger should be allowed to carry a firearm loaded with special purpose bullets.

I think you were taking the audio clip too literally. Besides I think you have watched too many movies with people being sucked out of airplanes. A bullet hole through a window or skin of the plane will not tear out the side and suck you out.

Hollywood continues to define its own reality.

For you Wolf......

*****************

Can a bullet bring down an airliner?
Hollywood has conditioned many Americans to believe that even at extreme altitudes, one bullet hole through the skin of a commercial airplane is enough to cause a massive pressurized explosion with enough force to suck passengers and debris into the cold air outside.

But as the debate continues over whether to allow commercial airline pilots, crew and perhaps even passengers carry firearms during flights, aeronautical engineers and other aircraft experts are working hard to educate the public about the realities of cabin pressure, bullets and aircraft vulnerabilities.

HELL, NO!

Typical hoplophobic response.

I would feel better flying that one than any other commercial plane.

Armed air marshals, since the 1970s, carried Glaser Safety Slug ammunition, which is a high-velocity handgun ammunition containing birdshot or "dust shot." It fragments when fired and has extremely low penetrability. --from the link posted by THEBIRD

Thanks for the link. I wonder if passengers are allowed to wear bullet-proof vests on an airplane, in case those high-powered armor-piercing bullets (mentioned in the flash video) penetrate a few of the bad guys and the bullets keeps hauling ass in your direction. Never mind the airplane.

I guess you don't read too good. I said I would like all adult passengers to carry firearms loaded with special purpose anti-bad guy bullets.http://freeconservatives.com/smilies/spank.gif

Sounds good to me. I prefer the Vulcan 20mm depleted uranium round cannon with the 6000 rounds a minute burst.

If I can fly on a Chinese aircraft visibly held together with duct tape, I can handle this.......no problemo.

They have duct tape in China? :D

That would be the M61A1 gattling gun. We used to hang them on the bottom of F-4Ds. They were in pods. Held 1100 rounds. Pilot could switch between "low" speed (4000 Round Per Minute) or your preferred "high".
