Ooooh, Ooooh, Ooooh, Ooooh, Ooooh! Can't WAIT to get this one! What a great idea too . . . I'll get one for my Mom to give her when she gets back from her trip, a belated Mother's Day gift!
Thanks for the heads-up PH!

Having seen it on Broadway with my son, and having him highly recommend the DVD, it is a MUST! I shall plug it into my box, crank the Klipsch ProMedia speakers to window-rattling volume, max the subwoofer, and let the overture reduce me to hamburger.

I find 90% of reviewers to be spot on, they are just so handy, better than weathermen,...if a reviewers DOESN'T like it, I surely WILL!

I haven't seen it on Broadway, but I saw it twice when it toured the country about ten years ago or so. I loved the effect of the gigantic chandelier swinging over our heads and crashing to the stage. ("You will curse the day you did not do.... All that the Phantom asked of... YOU!!!!! HA,HA,HA,HA")

If you get the double DVD set, then one of the discs has a fascinating show on the making of the stage performance. I was amazed how many years it was in the making. There are some funny things too, a part where all the different support crews that worked on the movie version sing a line or two from the theme song, with the music in the backgound. It is hilarious and most of them were pretty off-key. I don't think it was intentional either.

I now own the widescreen version. I'll find the time to run it and report.
