I was curious how Brad Kasal is doing, we posted about this hero earlier. He is the guy who got such terrible injuries while saving his fellow Marines (for those that don't know this story http://www.blackfive.net/main/2005/02/brad_kasal_a_us.htm )

Sgt Kasal is undergoing very painful reconstructive surgeries on his leg.

Anyway, I found a blog of a guy Geoff, ( http://senorlechero.blogspot.com/2005/04/update-on-1st-sgt-brad-kasal.html )who is his personal friend. I emailed and asked how Brad is doing. Here is his email back to me

Dear Wilkinsons

I am updating my blog today with new info on the 1st
Sgt. So you know, he is doing very well, with good
bone growth and is gaining movement in his ankle (one
of the big concerns of the doctors)

Brad is very positive, and confident that he will walk
again

My wife and I will have lunch with Brad next week so I
hope to be able to give even more information then.

Misty is a great person, and a very good friend to
Brad, who what there for him when he most needed a
friend.

Thank you for you kind words and your concern for
Brad, a truly great american hero.

Regards
Geoff

You guys remember 1st Sgt Brad Kasal? He is the guy who about got a leg shot off while nearly trapped by insurgents, then shielded another Marine from a grenade with his own body. There is talk of him being nominated for the Medal of Honor. He very nearly lost a leg over this, has been recovering 14 months. Here is an update I got today, very welcome news:

Julie, Bill and family

The 1st sgt is indeed getting better. His wounds have
healed and he is walking without assistance (except
when he wants to get somewhere really fast he uses
crutches) His hopes are high for a full recovery.

He should be back to work by the end of this month

Thanks for your concerns for him.

Best regards
Geoff

God bless that real hero! He's a shining example of why those who detest brave warriors like him are free to express their hatred.
