Doctors put girls aged 10 on the pill
Camillo Fracassini and Sarah-Kate Templeton
DOCTORS have prescribed the contraceptive pill to girls as young as 10, according to research that will reignite the debate over the spread of under-age sex in Britain.
The study, covering more than 35,000 girls, found there were 23 aged under 13 who had been given the pill either by family planning clinics or GPs. Of those, two were aged 10.
It is the first time such data on age have been disclosed and has prompted criticism that doctors may be condoning under-age sex or abuse. The research was conducted in Scotland, where sex with a girl under 13 is classified as rape. However, sex with a girl under 13 carries a maximum life sentence both north and south of the border.
The British Medical Association and General Medical Council tell doctors they can prescribe the pill to girls of any age if they are deemed mature enough to make the decision.
However, if they are aged under 13, the doctors are expected to report it to the police or social workers responsible for children at risk. It is not known whether this happened in the 23 cases or whether the children’s parents were informed.

I have mixed feelings on this. As a responsible adult, I think, "why are we putting 10 year old girls on the pill? It's just not right."
BUT, another part of me thinks that with kids becoming sexually active much sooner and more frequently than we'd care to admit, maybe it's not such a bad idea. I mean, we can teach our children abstinence until we're blue in the face but they aren't around us every hour of the day. They WILL do things when we aren't around. I know I did.
I guess if parents OK it, I might begrudgingly deal with it.

That is pretty young. Sometimes doctors prescribe the pill to regulate a girls menstrual cycle and that age is usually as young as 12. I can't imagine why they would prescribe it for a ten year old.

A few years ago I read of an 8-year-girl who gave birth. I thought I read it here.
Eight Year olds giving birth????
you gotta be kidding?

That would be a phenom. You can't get preggers unless you ovulate and you can't ovulate unless you mentruate. I've never heard of an 8 year old doing that but I guess anything is possible.

Just a short personal anecdote: One of my good friends' daughters "started" at the age of 9.
I do believe that "early" menstration has been an occurrence for some time now . . . or at the very least it is a local phenomenon, because among the homeschoolers that I know, many of the girls have 'started' before the age of 12.

I have mixed feelings on this. My feelings are unalloyed disgust. If we're going to give POISON to minors, why don't we just give them strychnine? The so-called Pill is poison whether you're a minor or an adult. Just ask my wife.

The liberal agenda is getting dangeroulsy close to Sharia Law. Clitorectomies, masectomies and burka bag hags. As Mohammad would say, 'if she can pee, she's for me'.

The questions that beg asking is WHY a ten year old?
WHO do the parents think are having sex with their ten year old daughters?
And if they know who it is, why haven't the parents a) informed the authorities, b) made it impossible for the monsters to have sex with the ten year old daughters by b1) removing the offending person, b2) removing the offending person's organ, or b3) removing the offending person's brain with a .45 caliber lobotomy.
If the DOCTORS know that the child is having sex at the age of ten, then why isn't the doctor informing authorities?

I think they figure it's the little girl's private sex life.

Maybe someone told the docs Bill Clinton was going to be in the neighborhood soon.

What concerns me is that you may not be far off the mark.
I was not going to comment on this as I find it to be so far over the top that it can't be happening often. I mean my daughter is 10. So far, she does know a whole lot more about sex and it's role in society than I ever did, but the child doesn't even think kissing a boy would be okay yet! I mean, she plays with stuffed animals and still calls me Mommy and I am just barely teaching her to help with dishes and chores. So it is totally out of my ability to comprehend someone her age having sex. I just cannot imagine this is happening.
My mother was a RN right out of nursing school and she helped deliver a baby from a 9 year old. It was a case of molestation. Very sad :(
