George Lucas supposedly takes a slam at George Bush in his new movie, Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

Will you see the film? Take the poll at Michael Medved's site. (http://www.michaelmedved.com/)

I plan to see it in the theatre sometime soon. :)

Ok took the poll. "Sometime this week...." I was pleasantly surprised that the little Lindo community theatre is carrying the film. (It began in 1922 and seats 1100 people). The first RotS show opened at 12:01 this morning and I couldn't get a babysitter so I'll watch the second showing tomorrow at 1 PM. :)

I think Medved is really reaching on this one. But, I also hear the movie itself is not really that good. Passable plot, horrible acting and dialogue and lots of effects to delight the little boys and nerds. Other than that, 2 hours 20 minutes of yawn.

When someone sees it, let's have your review.

I'll be seeing the movie at 1:30 today with my youngest son (43 years old) and one of his friends. They will have already seen it at the 10:00 showing (like right now). From what I've read about it and from watching all the other Star Wars movies, it seems to me that Annikan's descent into the dark side is more like the descent into Communism, Nazism, and Islamic extremism (Osama bin laden, al Qaeda, Saddam Hussein, the Taliban, et.al.).

This Star Wars movie is excellent, one of the best, if not the best, of the 6 Star Wars movies. In fact, it was one of the best movies I've ever seen.

Anyone familiar with the history of the 20th Century will see definite parallels between the tyrants of the 20th Century and early 21st Century - Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Hitler, Saddam, the Taliban, Osama bin Laden, et.al. - and the Siths. Communists had their own definition of peace: Peace is the state that will be reached when the entire world is under Communist control. The other tyrants mentioned had much the same definition of peace. The tyrannical Siths stated virtually the same definition of peace.

I agree. My only gripes with the it were the lines "If you're not with me you're against me" and "Only the Sith deal in absolutes".

Aside from the film was incredible, Ewan McGregor was great as Obi-Wan, and Anakin's descent into darkness and the destruction of the Republic and the Jedi Order were truly heartrenching. I was even moved by Aayla Secura's death, which is saying quite a bit since I detest Twi'leks.

P.S. Anyone who understands what the last part of the post means gets a no-prize.

The film is definitely the best of all of the six in the series. I definitely agree with you about those two lines, they were pretty annoying; nothing to make me dislike the film, though.

When the clone troopers turned on their Jedi Masters, it was certainly very sad. And this coming from a person who cheered for the bad guys throughout the film (Obi-Wan was the only good guy I cheered). Aayla Secura didn't even get to ignite her lightsaber! ;)

I do! I remember Oola very well. :)

I saw the movie and this may be hard to understand but I am so attached to Episodes 4, 5, and 6. I grew up with them and watched them countless times. I read the books too.

However, if I had been devoid of that attachment and was watching all 6 for the first time, I most defintely agree that Episode III blows them all out of the water.

One last thing. Wookies!!!!! Yee haw! Remember we were promised Wookie battles in Episode 6 but got Ewoks instead.

I'll not say any more, as not to spoil the movie. :)

This line kills me anyway. To say, "only the sith deal in absolutes", is an absolute.

I saw the previous release from 2003 and was throughly bored with it. Yoda fighting with a light saber? I'm sorry, but that just didn't work for me. Why didn't Yoda just shoot that dude with a blaster? Major cringe moment during that fight scene because I felt as if it was rather silly and over the top. LOL

Yes, there are a lot of special effects and crap in those movies, but George Lucas also has a way of making good actors look as if they can't act.

Believe it or not, I have yet to see the entire "original" Star Wars from 1977.

I've only seen two Star Wars movies in their entirety--the one with those miserable little "Ewoks" and the one that came out two years ago.

The wife is dead set against seeing this one because she believes all of the silly things that people of the conservative media are saying about it (with regards to Bush). We already know Lucas is a flaming lib from Marin County, so maybe that's the real reason why she doesn't want to see it?

If what I've read so far about what that guy said in the movie is accurate, I'm pretty sure that it's not an attempt to slam Bush or draw a parallel, particularly because these movies were written about 30 years ago. It's just logic: Either you are for something, or you're against it. Seems rather simple to me.

If anything, I would think that the tyrannical dictators in these movies would be more like the Nazi's or Hillary Clinton. LOL

Will I see it? I don't know. I might want to see it if someone else pays. LOL

Maybe I'll wait for the lines to die down or better yet, just wait for the DVD to come out.

It's a tossup.

Well, I saw the movie tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it. From the media criticism I heard of it, I think those critics big dealed irrelevence.

It did leave me with questions though that we may never get answered without either another movie or a TV series. Little things, really, but they could be some kool story plots:

-How does Chewbacca meet up with Han Solo?
-How Obi-Wan enhances his Jedi abilities on Tattooine.
-Luke and Leia. Be neet to see how they grow up.

Great movie. I don't care what people say about George Lucas. Brilliant movie mind and if he writes something, I will see it.

We saw the movie today and liked it. Good but not great. The dialogue is every bit as bad as you've heard, as is the acting of Hayden Christensen (Anakin Skywalker / Darth Vader). The movie starts off silly but gets much better as it goes along and in the end, is quite good.

Anakin's transition to the dark side is brief and unconvincing. However, the special effects, sets, and music are great.

Overall, worth the look.

Strong points: special effects, music, sets, costumes
Weak points: acting, dialogue, story

Rating: *** (out of 4 stars)
