Just got back from the movies, had to see some Darth Vader action and was not dissapointed.
There were several lines which bothered me:
Anakin: You're either with me, or you're my enemy
Obi: Only Siths deal in Absolutes
This confused the shit outa me.
All this time the Sith baddys (Anakin included) were arguing: "From my point of view, the Jedis are evil!". No absolutes, no good or evil, just alota grey. Afterall they are the evil ones, so what else can they say?
This made the whole Light Side vs DarkSide argument confused, if there are no absolutes for either Obi OR Vader, what exactly was the problem? Later on in the fight, Obi calls Anakin lost because he has given himself over to the Darkside.
There were other things wrong aswell, but I need to go play with my neices and nephew downstairs. BRB

You're right. To say that "Only Siths deal in Absolutes" is in itself an absolute.
This was most likely a rip at Bush. People who disagree with this claim that Lucas planned this out 30 years. That's crap. True, the idea of the Republic turning into an empire was always there but the actual screenplay was not finalized until just before shooting a couple years ago.
Lucas does not hide his liberalism. He has been open about his admiration of Michael Moore. He opposes the Iraq war (unlike his pal Steven Spielberg). Also, the character of Emperor Palpatine was based on Richard Nixon.

This Star Wars movie is excellent, one of the best, if not the best, of the 6 Star Wars movies. In fact, it was one of the best movies I've ever seen.
Anyone familiar with the history of the 20th Century will see definite parallels between the tyrants of the 20th Century and early 21st Century - Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Hitler, Saddam, the Taliban, Osama bin Laden, et.al. - and the Siths. Communists had their own definition of peace: Peace is the state that will be reached when the entire world is under Communist control. The other tyrants mentioned had much the same definition of peace. The tyrannical Siths stated virtually the same definition of peace.

There is no real politics in Star Wars. When the original Star Wars movies came out, Lucas was criticized for making apolitical movies. Star Wars has always been about black, white, and maybe one shade of gray in between. It's simplistic entertainment, not political commentary.
My feeling? This was a kick-ass movie that I enjoyed as much as any of the early Star Wars movies.
