Has anyone had any experience of Black Studies Courses. If so, what were they like?

Does anyone have specific information on Black or African-American Studies Departments?

I'm trying to determine their quality, and whether or not they are "leftwing propaganda factories," as one liberal columnist called them.

I know that there are some very good ones, and some very bad ones, but I am trying to get a rough idea of what the proportion of good to bad is.

I need links, or better yet, testimony of your direct experiences.

Thanks,

Doug

Read Dinesh D'Souza's Illiberal Education (1991). It tells more than you really wanted to know about AfroCentrism in the education system.

Have a vomit bag at your side as you read.

Thanks for the tip. I've got his End of Racism, and Mary Lefkowitz and Stephen Howe's books, plus an excellent book by Clarence Walker, a Black historian, but I haven't yet read Illiberal Education. I know I will be depressed upon reading it, but also motivated to increase my own efforts to fight this thing.

The nice thing about Political Correctness is that, for once, the Left is not offering goodies to young people ("do what thou wilt"), or pointing the accusing finger somewhere else ("the ruling class are guilty"), but directly attacking them ("you are a racist/sexist/homosphobe").

Finally we have the backlash: South Park Conservatism. So we should now go on the offensive on the campuses and make these people history.
