Namby-pamby nation
Michelle Malkin
June 29, 2005
White House senior adviser Karl Rove caused a firestorm last week after observing that liberals favor "therapy and understanding" to fight terrorism in a post-Sept. 11 world.
Rove spoke the truth. But he barely scratched the surface. The left-wing Kumbaya crowd is quietly grooming a generation of pushovers in the public schools. At a time of war, when young Americans should be educated about this nation's resilience and steely resolve, educators are indoctrinating students with saccharine-sticky lessons on "non-violent conflict resolution" and "promoting constructive dialogues."
Peaceniks are covering our kids from head to toe in emotional bubble wrap. They are creating a nation of namby-pambies.

Instead should they be teaching children to solve their problems with violence? Schedule duels between childhood rivals to kick off every school day? Or have special days where student are allowed to wage all out war on each other to determine their social pecking order?
Is there any reason why children should not learn skills for resolving conflicts without violence?

They should learn both. They should learn that there are times where diplomacy fails and there is no solution but violence. It's not like you're going to diplomatically get your way out of a rape or a mugging. There are times when diplomacy works, but the more that the governments of the world give into thugs, the harder it becomes for people to understand the need for a violent response to evil.
I don't think anyone is advocating letting children beat the crap out of one another, but they also need to know that they don't just have to lie down and let someone hurt them and not fight back.

Remember, Free, who you are talking about. Children in Arab cultures are taught to hate Americans and the Jews. How do you counter that? You can't really. Years of humanitarian aid to these war torn countries hasn't made a difference in terms of the poverty levels OR to change the outlook they are taught of us.
And experience has taught me that talk is cheap. I often find that others won't listen so I don't even bother.

We have gone on so long believing that war isn't the solution to everything, that we now think it won't solve anything.

They should be taught to avoid Violence when possible but when it is visited on you that you need to return it. Overwhelmly and permanently.
With some people there's just no way to avoid violence, some who deal in violence know and respect only one thing, violence.
My old man once stated "Talk is cheap" that is true when it concerns violence, as those dealing in violence respect action, not words.
Words to violent people mean absolutely notheing and they will not respect or accept negotiations, talk, or dialogue of any kind.
So with some instances in order to stop violence one has to deal in violence to stop it, as that is the Only language some violentpeople respect and/or heed.
