Soldier Gets Military Honors, 62 Years On

<!-- END HEADLINE --><!-- BEGIN STORY BODY -->By RON STATON, Associated Press WriterFri Jul 1,11:43 PM ET

A soldier was given full military honors on Friday, more than 62 years after he died in the Pacific during World War II and two decades after his family finally learned where he was buried.

The daughter and two grandchildren of Pvt. John Jedrzejek sat next to his grave in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific as an Army rifle team fired a 21-gun salute and Taps were played.

A folded American flag and various military medals, including the Purple Heart and Bronze Star, were presented to the family.
