If any of you are experienced EBay sellers, what is the best way to post pictures of the item? Do you need to have a website the photo is linked to? We sold a car once on there, but told interested people that we could email them pictures privately and we did.

PH:
I just upload the pics from my hard drive. You'll see as you proceed through the selling process. The first pic is free. Others are (I think) .10 each. You pay this even if you are hosting the pics yourself.
I wouldn't bother with hosting my own pics unless I was doing a lot of selling. As it is, I dabble in it, listing 10 items or so at a time. I take my own pics with a digital camera. It takes a bit of time to get good ones. If you have lighting problems, sometimes the best way is to take the item outdoors for the shots.
If you take the shots sideways, you will need to rotate and save them on your computer before you upload. Uploading is easy, but takes t i m e if you are on dialup.
Feel free to ask any ?? you need.

Best bet: use an image hosting service. I use Photobucket (http://photobucket.com/).
"Photobucket.com provides image hosting for Ebay, live journals, blogs, message boards, and online photo albums. Photobucket is reliable, fast and very simple to use. Give it a try!"
The added benefit is using the same account for photos you that want to post here.

Tinypic.com is good too, since you won't need to reference the pics again (photobucket keeps your pics in directory - tinypic.com just provides a link to you).
Tinypic.com doesn't have a registration process, like photobucket does.
