I have a new rallying cry: STICKLERS, UNITE!
Do you despair over the rampant misuse of the apostrophe? Do you cringe over the misunderstanding of its and it's? Do you carry a fat marker and eraser in your pocket and surreptitiously edit signs with punctuation errors?
You need to read this -

The history of punctuation is told, sprinkled with humerous anecdotes. (Wait'll you find out what the British call an exclamation mark!) Of course, there are rules and examples of the proper use of the punctuation marks we take less seriously than we should. It's mostly a panegyric for clarity in speech for which punctuation marks are servants.
Not sure if you should read it? Take this The Punctuation Game (http://eatsshootsandleaves.com/). Yeah, yeah. I scored 100%. My own wife and daughter call me a nerd. I've made my peace with that long ago. So it should come as no surprise that I immensely enjoyed this book.
Give it a whirl! You'll be pleased. I finished it in two days.
