Does anyone know of a style of violin/cello music that would resemble the type of sound from guitarist Joe Satriani?
I am trying to find string music that sounds very similiar his sound or just something very bold and flowing instead of slow and waltzy. I guess deep and meloncholy type sounds that are almost upbeat in some strange sort of way.
Does anyone have the slightest clue what I am talking about?

Have you seen the movie Master and Commander? They have a small cello piece on there, by Bach (cello suite #1 in g minor I think) which is classical, but still more flowing instead of deep and sonorous (like a death march). Possibly that?
