SAN FRANCISCO -- San Francisco Giants slugger Barry Bonds doesn't expect to play this season because of his injured right knee.

Bonds told MLB.com on Monday that he's improving and happy with his progress but doesn't think he'll be on the field until 2006. He said the last thing he wants is to get back on the field and be out again a week later.

Methinks he doesn't want to take a chance on failing a banned substances test. :(

MEthinks it has more to do with the fact that his contract runs out next year and the following year he will be going for the ALL TIME home run record. Can you say big bucks for a one year contract.

He prolly wouldn't pass the substance test now anyway because I do believe he is being treated with steroids for his knee injury. I think his knee would prolly swell up like a volleyball after his workouts if he wasn't treated with steroids (cortisone). Just speculation.

I don't think he would pass a steroid test any day, any time. He can break Aaron's record if he likes but Aaron will still be king in my book.

I bet no one thought Palmeiro would get popped either.

He can take those earrings and that showboating arrogant stance back to his home, wherever that is.
