Bush Mulling Immigration Plan Despite Lots Of GOP Opposition

Chastened by his lack of traction on Social Security, but emboldened by his hard-won victory on free trade, President Bush is preparing another push on a party-splitting issue -- immigration.
The White House is said to be preparing its own plan for immigration reform to give immigration backers a clearer cause to unite behind.
Nailing down the details will be difficult, but the plan is sure to combine tough new border controls and some sort of guest worker plan.
Bush restated his commitment to both last week in a speech before the American Legislative Exchange Council.
"One way to protect this border is to recognize that people are sneaking in here to work," he told the association of conservative lawmakers.
"It seems rational to me that ... there ought to be a way to let somebody come and do jobs Americans won't do, on a temporary basis," he said.
Bush also restated his opposition to amnesty, though critics say any guest-worker plan that overlooks illegal entry would amount to amnesty.
The White House has already begun putting together a coalition called Americans for Border and Economic Security.

Sneaking in? Hell no, they are invading!

"It seems rational to me that ... there ought to be a way to let somebody come and do jobs Americans won't do, on a temporary basis," he said.
This statement might seem rational, but it's ultimately not only irrational but so far removed from reality as to be pathological.
Bush refuses to recognize that entire industries fired their American workers in favor of illegals who work for less.
Bush refuses to recognize that in every major city and in small ones too, hundreds of men stand around on street corners fighting over one homeowner with one lawn to mow.
Bush refuses to recognize that unemployed illegals have become pushcart vendors of uninspected unsanitary food.
Bush refuses to recognize that allowing in temporary workers will only end up with temporary workers and millions more illegals.

He also fails to acknowledge that illegals make up a grossly disproportionate percentage of our prison population as well as are sucking tax dollars from state and local govt services - especially education and health care.

My idea of immigration reform...
Lock the border, and then find and deport any and ALL illegals within the country.
Pretty simple if you ask me.....

My idea of immigration reform...
Lock the border, and then find and deport any and ALL illegals within the country.
Pretty simple if you ask me.....Yes... Are you listening Mr Bush? There's your plan... If there are people in Mexico who want to do jobs that Americans wont do, then let them immigrate LEGALLY just as any European or Asian immigrant is required to do...
It is an abomination that he should stand there and preach to us about the war on terror for the last 5 years and NOT seal our borders because of some personal desire he has to embrace hispanic aliens to the presidential bossom...
I take absolutely NO immigration plan coming from the Whitehouse to be anything but a snow job to shut up the rising demand among Conservatives to deal with this invasion...
Maybe this is a blessing in disguise, friends... If he raises this issue now, before the next Congressional election, we may see some true Conservatives rise up and run for Congressional seats... Mr Bush had better get his head right on this issue or it WILL split the Republican Party before the next presidential election...
Keep the heat on your Representatives in Washington... We cannot let up now...
Not to mention Bush fails to see that illegals are swamping our hospitals, emergency rooms, meicaire and medicaid and social security funds to the point of breaking the backs of the states these illegals are swamping.
"It seems rational to me that ... there ought to be a way to let somebody come and do jobs Americans won't do, on a temporary basis," he said.
IF They closed the borders, enforced immigration LAWS and then put an end to the idiotic social programs there would be Americans working these so-called jobs these pandering politicians seem to feel Americans will not take.
The Only reason why they wont take it is because of the high inflation rates, the uber-high minimum wage thats out there inflating the already too high wages of other jobs and the prices of everything has literally gone through the roof because of the hyper-inflated wages.
Kill off the government-enforced minimum wage and allow the free market to decide what wages would be paid to all irregardless and you would see Americans out there in those fields and factories instead of illegals who get paid under the table and pay everything in cash.
The Average american cannot make ends meet the way the prices are so high because of the hyper-inflated minimum wages that push the rest of everything else from hamburgers on up higher, every year.

The proposed plan is nothing more than pandering to Hispanics in this country in the effort to win a few of their votes. Most of the Latinos in this country are either here illegally or are here legally but are the children/grandchildren of Hispanics who came her illegally.
Without past amnesties and with a solid clamping down on our southern border, this country would probably have about 20 million fewer people to support using its "social" programs.
Think about that...TWENTY MILLION people.
And yet they are the ones expressing the moral outrage over any suggestions that their illegal behavior be stopped. I saw a poll on one of the news programs last evening. Ninety percent of Latinos who live here but weren't born here support continuation of our present immigration policies (which, in effect, means doing nothing). The report went on to say "...but 'only' 70 percent of Hispanics both born and currently living in this country support the current policy."
Oh, wow! With 'only' 70 percent of Hispanics supporting the violation of our national dignity and borders through illegal behavior, we'll have to open the floodgates to deal with number of Hispanics flocking to the conservative movement in this country...or at least that's what some pie-in-the-sky conservatives would have the rest of us believe will happen.
Ethnic favoritism. Another word for it is bigotry.
Do you people realize that our country is having its guts eaten out by this infectous invasion? It is fundamentally changing our country and culture--and not in a favorable way. We busted our asses making this country what it is and these people simply cross our border for a free elevation of their standard of living. They come from failed cultures and countries and are destroying America. They are not equal to us because they haven't earned the right to say or even believe that they are equal. Latino pride is a sham, a lie, a case of ethnic arrogance in denial of a stinking, ugly truth--an ideal built upon gall rather than achievement.
Hispanic culture is NOT American culture, and it's inclusion makes America lesser in its greatness. This isn't the 1920 when it was okay for immigrants to come to America not knowing the language, not having any real skills, and wanting to live in ethnic enclaves. We were a developing nation at that time. No welfare. You HAD to pull your own weight. And you didn't demand damn voting ballots and driver's license tests in your home language.
Now we have the "no shame" Hispanics--demanding respect for the equality of the culture while castigating any criticism as white bigotry. By the way, these are cultures they fled at the drop of a sombrero--but they have no problem waving their little foreign flags at soccer and baseball games whenever their "glorious" homeland sends a team here to play.
Their journey here has NOTHING to do with freedom...only money. That's not surprising considering the corruption and thievery found within ALL of the cultures south of our border.
But, hey, we need them to pick our vegetables and fruits--right? WRONG!!! The labor costs for hand-havesting foods in this country is a miniscule percentage of the overall cost of getting the food to our tables. Those who scream that Americans would revolt over the rise in food costs if we evicted all of the illegals and started paying Americans $10 or $12 an hour to do the job are unvarnished liars. If Americans are will to pay $40 for a carton of cigarettes or $3 for a gallon of gasoline, they can pay for a three to five percent increase in food costs. And that sort of increase is all that the amount would be. If you budget $400 a month to feed your family, then you'd see an increase of about $12 to $20 per month. And that would more than be made up by the decrease in taxpayer outlays for prison incarceration, medical costs, and education expenses for illegals and their families.
I hate what this Latino invasion is doing to our country. If that makes me a bigot, THEN SO BE IT! They are turning us into a has-been nation...into a Latino country replete with its culture of failure.
God Bless America...

Bush doesn't fail to see anything. He and his entire administration would have to dumb as rocks not to know what's going on. Pure politics. You don't see and democrat or republican congresscritters rushing to get bills passed to curb the illegals do you? Neither side wants to piss of the latino vote so expect more of the same. Hillary Clinton said she was opposed to illieags but has she proposed anything to stop the flow? Nope! Folks we are :bdh:

The reason illegals will work for nothing is because they know they will lose their illegal benefits (SSI & Medicaid) if they make good money.

Actually it's a hell of a lot more than they were making in Mexico. That country is sinking into oblivion fast.

An excellent post by Fester - all good points... But Tac is also right... No one in Washington wants to alienate the largest growing voter block in the country... We may already have lost this nation to the barbarians because we dont have any courage in the "leaders" we have sent to Washington... They are all sitting around watching the hemmorage and have no idea what to do about it... Because their cushy government privilaged jobs are more important to them than the sovereignty of this nation... To them, common citizens like ourselves are an expendable commodity...
At the current rate of this invasion, the United States of America will be dissolved and replaced by some Hispanic Banana Republic within my lifetime...

This pisses me off!!:flame:

SO FRICKING WHAT!!! I suppose it means nothing that 70% of American do NOT want illegals getting handouts, being granted immunity and being allowed US entry via smoke screens like the "Guest Worker Program."
It is also a double-standard:
-It's OK for people from Mexico to come illegally but someone from Europe, Asia, Africa or wherever must apply for visas.
-It's a security issue as any terrorist cell can make it's way into Mexico and cross over. Why fight the War on Terror if we allow this?
-Many illegals cross with drugs.
It's already out of hand and is allowed to get worse. I will NOT support a GOP candidate who will continue this agenda.

Of course, they wouldn't be "the largest growing voter bloc in the country" if we enforced immigration laws and deported the 20 million here illegally--along with their anchor babies.
