:moo: The Doobies may have had rhythm, but ChicagoŽ wasn't afraid to use brass. It's not often you run across that in rock & roll.

I think I liked one song of the Doobie Brothers (I hate the name of their band even..ack). I dont remember not liking a Chicago song though..mmm.

I vote for Chicago :) Many many memories lie in the tunes of Chicago songs

I like Chicago with Terry Kath more. The Doobies are great, too.

I like 'em both with a slight edge to Chicago.

Almost too close to call. Both bands have great sounds and I could listen to either one almost any time.

I give a VERY slight edge to the Doobies.

True, but then again brass is not necessary in rock & roll.

 Exactly what is "necessary" for rock & roll? Guitars? Drums? Does it hurt the music, if anything else is added?

I like Chicago and the Doobie Brothers but I like the Doobies more. Chicago uses too many string instruments and flutes in their songs.

I've seen them both in concert twice The first concert I ever went to was Chicago In the CTA years. I was sitting there and some guy in front of me passed me a joint. First I was shocked because I had never been around pot before and secondly i was shocked cause it was may Social Studies teacher who passed it. True story! I agree with you Best45cal Terry Kath was a awesome Guitarist. Unfortunately He used his Best 45 cal. and killed himself.

As far as the Doobies go I was a huge fan until Michael McDonald joined them he kind of sucked the Rock right out of them.

One of the best concerts I went to was a Dobbies concert. Skunk Baxter Was wailing on guitar with his long flowing hair and Randy Brecker of the Brecker Bros. was blasting his trumpet to "I cheat the hangman" almost a spiritual moment! Count me on the Doobies Side! Oh By the way if you have Comcast the ondemand music channel Has the Doobies in concert and they still rock for being old men.

 Exactly what is "necessary" for rock & roll? Guitars? Drums? Does it hurt the music, if anything else is added?Nope, doesn't hurt it at all. Doesn't necessarily improve it either. I never regarded Chicago's music as Rock n Roll.

Music sucks...

I find it both distracting and annoying...
