CABLE BATTLE: CNN HEAD CALLS FOXNEWS COVERAGE 'MEANINGLESS NONSENSE' (http://drudgereport.com/flash4.htm)
Tue Aug 23 2005 20:34:26 ET
CNN President Jonathan Klein implies ratings news leader FOXNEWS is mired in coverage of "meaningless nonsense," claiming: "Fourteen Americans dead, and they have Natalee Holloway on," Klein says. "And they're supposedly America's news channel."
"It's easy and it's brainless," Klein charges in a telephone interview set for publication at the NEW YORK TIMES, explaining why cable news outlets are gravitating to the Aruba story. "They're looking for an ongoing drama" along the lines of the NBC crime show "Law & Order," he said, adding, "Except 'Law & Order' doesn't do the same plot every night."

Actually, I agree with the above statement. The murder mystery de jure thing gets old, as did the Michael Jackson circus and so on. Then, they also have boring "breaking news" stories of some rail car turned over and leaking something, some building on fire in LA, some gas truck on fire on a freeway. These things are not national news, IMO.

Since Megabitch Sheehan faded from view, the media gotta fill 24/7 with SOMETHING. And what else is going on in the world?
CNN attacking Fox is akin to a Yorkie in a second floor window yipping and yapping at Rottweilers in the yard.
Hey Doc didja know ole Sheehan stated she calls the terrorists that are killing our troops, 'freedom fighters?
Yea but as you can see the MSM will NEVER report that story even though the wench stated that straight to a CBS reporter.
Gotta love their censorship of things they dont want the American sheeple to know of or about.
Gotta present ONLY their side and their side only, and ditch anything that says or points otherwise.
At LEAST Fox News hasnt spiked the truth :thumb:
Y'know just thinkin bout it, Cindy Sheehan should get together with ole Ward Churchill, both would be perfect together.

Rather than slamming Fox, CNN should be busting their tails off to put out a better product. They originally had the best cable news product when, for years, they had the only cable news product. Then Fox and the alphabet-NBC channels came along, and they couldn't handle the competition (though I don't think anyone watches the latter).
CNN is like a political candidate who can slam his/her opponent but offers no substantial alternative (e.g., John Kerry).

'Law & Order' doesn't do the same plot every night. But CNN and all the other MSM do. It's called 'Hate Bush, All the Time.'

Well, even a stopped clock is correct twice a day. I don't think CNN, MSN, etc, are by any means better than the MCN (Miss Clairol Network, err, I mean, FoxNews Channel), but this guy makes a great point: Report when there's something to report.

That may well be true. But, his disparaging comments, coming from a competitor, still sound like :sourgrape:

Fox NEWS does at times resemble court TV. I'm so sick of the Aruba story.....
WHAT ABOUT:
The Good News in Iraq?
The Fact of this BATF swarming Gun SHows lately?
BATF not allowing anymore parts imports?
Supreme Court battle?
Border Chaos?
Lots of news gets brushed aside just so Greta can show her ugly face on my TV.
